    mega squirt,lots of us 2.3 turbo guys are using these kits. If you want a good kit get the EEc tuner for the same price, its a plug and play kit.

    well just bring up #1 piston, first piston on the block. On the crank the key pin should be at 12o'clk[striaght up]at this point #1 piston should be at top dead center. If not rotate till it is.     well as funny as it may be about 3 months ago it happend to me same thing and it was the starter. The dang thang was stuck in prestart position[the gear wouldnt move to make contact with the fly wheel]. Sounds funny but it was stuck, i even tried to pry it. Good luck!

    ever do a 2.3 to 289 swap?

    i did the swap in my 88. Nothing realy different than a 302. Same motor mounts,headers[long tube or shorties],same h-pipe. Sense it will be carb, just get an 85 carb linkage. Now if you want a 5-speed the bell housings are different to the blocks. Or a least on my early 289. I used an msd box...
