    thanks for the info man... i've got no idea what the floorboards are. That would be nice to know. I'll try and have and answer when I grind the paint off and see what's there next Monday, unless somebody knows.

    hmm, buddy at work just told me about the sound deadening/tar-mat stuff I probably have to remove before welding... using dry ice (quicker) or a chisel (slow) edit: but since this isn't by the weld points... i don't know what the big deal is. All there is is paint.

    Just called him up... said the fumes nearly knocked him out when he tried welding them, that's why he stopped. Maybe he tried to weld through tar or something and that's what hit him. I was under the impression that when welding, you will get a better weld with a completely clean surface...

    I just want to know... Do people weld the bars to their cars? because I know they do. Do they just grind it down? or what... ? I'm so confused about this whole thing.

    I was thinking about tieing in the rollbar to a set of subframes when funds allow, so that's where i'm coming from... might as well just weld everything in. Besides, it was supposed to be a stich weld to keep the strength of the mounting surface on the floorpan. I don't believe welding...

    *FUMES too bad sorry about the title... i'm just pissed still. AND, my dad picked up the car, so I couldn't make sure he did everything right... What he forgot to do: the removable crossbar that was sitting in the front seat and of course, welding to the body. BLAH :(

    So, the welder claimed the fumes were too bad so he said just to bolt it down. So basically, I paid to have him weld the plates to the main hoop and bracing bars and tack it to the body. He couldn't weld to the rear braces or the floorboard. What I want to know is why he didn't just grind it...

    try an FM MODULATOR. they plug directly into the antenna jack. get a stereo to rca converter and u r set. i bought a little grommet and have it on the inside of my cener console

    Do you actually need the three terminals? A "rheostat" only has 2 terminals and varies the resistance. A "Multiturn Preset" is like a pot but way more precise. with the presets and the potentiometers, if you only need a variable resistance, you're only going to use 2 of the 3 prongs

    what about cutting a slit in it and using a screwdriver (one with a large, or at least wide bit)... but if you go all the way through, you could accidently get crap in there. i've never removed the valve cover, but i'd probably do that.
