    Advantages of a 5.0?

    The 5.0 HO's (the ones with the roller cams) are well built for all the previously stated reasons, but nobody mentioned the fact that they had forged pistons, most engines have cast pistons. (or those icky hypereutectic ones but we wont go there)

    Thats what confuses me, this IS a direct fit, at least for the '70 they did it on. Its like it was designed to be there everything fit so well. I guess the front ends must be getting scarce if people are paying what I would assume is within walking distance of $1500 for the "custom" front ends.

    The only other option I have seen for gauges that will actually fit is the aluminum plate someone was selling that replaced the whole gauge area and was cut to fit autometer speedo and tach and the others. I forget where I saw that and what years it was all made for but its out there.

    Even 2500 rpms is alot for cruising with a v8. I wouldn't personally go over 3.00 with a 3 spd, but then I would stick the 3 spd on a shelf where itll sit safe for originality purposes and then put a t-5 in it so you can acutally use the higher gear ratios.
