Cost difference when building a 306 vs. 347

The added torque from a stroker is well worth the money. As for costs the kits are pretty cheap now adays and it shouldn't be that much to assemble one but everyone here has yet to mention the added hidden costs associated with the increased torque (or atleast the ones I found when I switched...

    Chassis Dyno #'s-vs- Track #'s

"I lost 22% from the engine dyno with a 5spd" Did you use same headers, exhaust and same accessories on engine dyno? Seems most don't then when they install the restrictions on and hit the dynojet they're surprised at the losses.

    Not peaking where it should...

Small cam that closes intake early isn't going to be high revver. What was your torque?

    Not peaking where it should...

Did you degree the cam? I'm running a stock MAF and stock TB and I'm peaking at 5200rpm. Post your dyno sheet, I've been loking for a dyno of a 2030.

    E303 VS. Steeda#18

Neither get a Comp XE270HR-12 (35-324-8) and hold on! Has less overlp than the E should have no problems passing emiss.

    Back from dyno...#'s decent??

"Gears have nothing to do with the dyno readings.." They absolutely do, a dynojet measures HP then calculates torque and HP is measured by how fast the car spins the drums at each rpm level. Jumping to steeper gears will spin the drum faster at lower rpms. Your torque seems low but your...

new 347 problems, just finished it, STRESSED OUT! advice needed

Set timing at 14 to start, fuel pressure should be 39psi (no vacuum to start). Dump the 160 t stat and run a 180. FP should be about 1/2 way on stock guage (assuming working properly) and will raise a little when you rev it.

porting stock intake manifold and stock heads?

Very good chance I'll have dyno numbers for heavily ported stock heads (stock vlvs) and stock lower intake along with; stock cam 1 5/8" shorties 2 1/2" OR H 2 1/2" summit cat back 3.73s 65mm TB & Egr stock MAF 3" intake elbow in early Oct. if you can wait.

    Comp XE258 or XE264

Ask for their reasoning on why they're recommending the cam that they did too. You also might want to question why they're recommending a cam that is designed for long runner intake EFI engine for a carb'd motor.

    Comp XE258 or XE264

Cam is too small for a 10:1 302 with a carb and you also don't need that much bias on the exhaust. The XE258 has a very early closing intake which along with short duration and 10:1 cr is going to give high cyl pressures..you better have a good tune with good gas. Stock heads don't flow all...

    Comp XE258 or XE264

Neither I'd go with Crane 444221 (assuming you have a hyd roller motor) installed 4 deg retarded, it's cheaper and will perform well with your parts. Make sure you have correct springs for it!

    331 ... 'E' cam

Don't worry it'll still sound mean.

    331 ... 'E' cam

Yes it will thump at idle but not as much as it does in a 302/6. No no one has a E303 in a 331ci motor, why spend all that money on nice parts and stick a marginal performing 302ci cam in it. I almost passed emissions with no cats and my custom cam, which is larger than the E.

    what cam?...asap

2700rpm stall AOD, Track Heat intake and ported GT40s with an E303? There's a lot more to a custom cam than just the specs you see. I don't understand why you're going to spend all the money you did on the motor then skimp on the most important part of it?

need some expert advice on this cam delema

No expert but I've seen excellent results with w/almost the same combo NA and the F, along lines of 320+rwhp where you don't too many do this w/TFS-2. Presure and timing are too high, drop FP to 40 (no vac) and timing to 16

Wow, 392's are insanely cheap to build!!

"would it be easier just to build a 331 with a s trim and get the same results" Not for the same price, the 392 he mentions here will support quite abit of power until parts come into question. A 331 with S trim is going to need high quality high $$ parts if you want it last. If you...

    bad dyno numbers.....

You can run a larger cam and still pass smog. 5600 peak is about right for that cam but I still think torque should have been greater. Any chance you can post the dyno graph?

    bad dyno numbers.....

If your heads do flow like a set of 185s on intake and better than AFR185s exhaust I don't think that cam is all that bad and I would say 280rwhp is about right but the torque seems low. Where are your peaks, is HP around 5500?. If you're looking for 300rwhp+ a 216/220 0.05" duration cam isn't...
