why is my car jumpy in 3rd and 4th gear at about 30 mph

because you're probably in too high of a gear. What rear end gears do you have? Shifting normally (2000 rpm), with 2.73's, I shift to 2nd about 20mph, 3rd about 30, 4th about 40, and 5th about 55 or so. I don't know exactly why the car is bucking, but I would assume that being at such a low...

any one with this set up?

Sorry man, I was wrong. My GT w/ the similar setup to yours idles at about 650 (stock) with about 11 Hg of vacuum. Push the gas, vacuum goes down, let up a little and it jumps up over 20 and bounces a round a bit. I just got the car out yesterday and noticed that, so I thought I'd let you know.

How much hp will a stock 5.0 block handle

says who? DSS uses stock blocks, so theirs aren't any stronger than a stocker. The only thing is they may put a girdle on it to hold it together after it breaks. Besides, It's been posted on here several times within the past couple years...DSS isn't what they used to be. They've let their...

Where is the fuse in the "fusable link"?

I think mine was melted (and you could tell it) when it went bad. You could use a digital volt meter and ohm it out and see the resistance of the wire. It should be relatively low, like below .1 or so If you don't have a digital volt meter, I would suggest purchasing one. Mine was about...

Where is the fuse in the "fusable link"?

uh huh, the fusible link is designed so that it will fail if something happens so that the rest of the wire doesn't burn/melt. Then, you just replace the little fusible link instead of the whole wire. There is no "fuse" that you can readily take in or out. If you ever get a 3g alternator...

    Battery Cable

I'm sure you've tried this, but have you cleaned your battery posts and battery cable terminals? Also, how does your ground go from the battery to the fenderwell? You need the negative battery cable that has the little wire coming off of it that attaches to the other wire that bolts to the...

Question about repairing a strip header bolt

Yeah, heli-coil would be the *best* way that I know of, but you'd really need to pull the head to fix that. It sounds like you've chased the threads with a tap, but if you haven't, do that. Make 100% sure it's the correct size and pitch before you do it or you will have to heli-coil, period...

What can you do in 48 hours?

that's a nice car. My question if of a more serious note: what caused the impellar to break like that? Is that a common problem? Is it more common with one blower brand more than others? You guys make it look like you're checking the oil or something...out there in pretty decent clothes...

help picking car to go to school in

explorers trash tranny's like crazy for some reason. At least the early-mid 90's ones did. I have a friend who used to have a 95 s10 blazer 4x4 and he ended up selling it for $1300...they book around $1900, so they don't hold their value. They seem to trash bushings too. I've seen a lot of...

HEY! post your 1/4 times & setups

2nd run was obviously the best. It was my first time at the track and I had no idea what I was doing. I had the rear tire pressure at around 18 psi, which I was later told was a bad idea. I"ll keep it at 30 next time. Mods in sig and 275/50 bfg t/a radials on the rear.

X vs H or Pro chamber.... couple ?'s

go to mustang exhaust and listen to a file name called this: FlowmasterAmericanThndr,BBKoffroadH,factory,88GT That's pretty much what my GT sounds like that. Not sure what cam that car has, but mine has an E303 and it lopes (pretty much like that one) and sounds absolutely bad ass. To each...

What are your normal idling temps?

stock thermostat is 195, I wouldn't worry a lot about 205. It *shouldn't* be getting that hot and staying 205 for any length of time. The disparity may be due to the fact that your gauge is reading 205 in the intake, but the sensor for the DCC unit isn't seeing those high of temps.

What are your normal idling temps?

Everyone is gonna tell you your gauge isn't accurate if you're using the stock gauge. Ideally, your temp should stay right around the temp that the thermostat is. I assume you're cruising in the city. What temp is your DCC unit set to kick on at? It should be set for the same temp that...

any one with this set up?

It runs pretty well. I rebuilt the engine last summer and only put about 250 miles on it before I put it up for winter, which was back in November. I'm getting it out this week. Perhaps you have a vacuum leak which is what is causing yours to have lower vacuum? Make sure all of your vacuum...

any one with this set up?

I just rebuilt the engine last year and it's only got about 250 miles on it. Haven't gotten the car out yet, but it should have excellent compression. The cam really doesn't have much to do with compression. I do not have roller rockers, but you may have to shim, just depends. If I recall...

Cant get dist to seat down all the way.... HELP ASAP

look at the shaft in the pic...there's nothing that would keep the distributer from sliding over the shaft except that star washer, which WILL slide down. Cutting the distributer is going to make the distributer slide down in the hole farther because the bottom won't come into contact with the...

Cant get dist to seat down all the way.... HELP ASAP

cutting the distributer sounds like a bunch of BS to me...no offense to anyone. I have the ARP oil pump shaft part number ARP-154-7904 from Summit and I didn't cut anything. I'm using the the stock distributer. Did you install the oil pump shaft yourself? I'll see if I can find a pic, but I...

Cant get dist to seat down all the way.... HELP ASAP

you might try removing the rotor and gently tapping it with a mallet. That's what I had to do and it worked. No problems that I know of. My star washer was just up a little too far preventing it from sliding all of the way on the shaft.

Could it be or am I way off??

No one can tell you for sure if the cam is causing all of your problems. Obviously you know the cam will alter your vacuum, and you also know that the speed density system uses vacuum. That right there says you know it's going to cause problems of some kind. Sounds like you might consider...
