    Lookin' at a Cobra

In my opinion, a cobra in anything but nearly stock trim is just another fox body; Don't get me wrong, they're awesome and I love them too, but they're not worth much more than a GT w/ the same options once they have so many miles and have aftermarket work done to them (5 lug, gauge pod, etc)...

Thumbs down on trick flow products. *rant*

They make attachments that screw into your spark plug hole. You hook an air compressor up to the fitting and pump some air into the cylinder. The air holds the valves in place and you can get the job done without the valves on that cylinder dropping. However, yes, obviously make sure it's BDC...

New here. Questions about my stang.

If you suspect the alternator, the best thing would be to pull the alternator, take it to autozone and get it tested. Alternators do go bad, especially on a car this age, but it's not something I'm always replacing. You could get the brushes and rebuild it yourself -- if that's the problem --...

    o/r mac h pipe clam?

It's generally been 10-15 bucks for me to get pipes welded together. The pipe is not terribly expensive, but keep in mind they probably make a little mark-up on the pipes. Get a 2nd quote, but in the end, you're better off having it welded. It's probably worth the money to get it fixed...

Decent Digital Camera Around 250? Possible?

hell, my 3.1 megapixal Kodak DX3700 has pretty good quality and it's way under $250 nowadays. If I were to buy a new one, I'd definitely go better just because, but this one works great, isn't hard to use and I think you can do video too, but I never do. Mine was around $200 when I got it back...

Judging gas mileage by miles per tank is irrelevant. Take into consideration that the 99 GC's had 20.5 gal tanks, which means about 20mpg average if your 400 mile per tank figure is correct. Not saying that's good or bad, just adjusting the information for comparisons sake.

Bad Alternator? Dies with AC on!

alternator output varies with RPM, so it makes sense that voltage drops when RPM drops. You should consider getting some Throttle body cleaner (not carb cleaner, there is special throttle body cleaner that is different and needs to be used). Use the throttle body cleaner to clean your IAC...

help picking car to go to school in

I had a 94 grand cherokee, which is older than what you were considering, I understand. Mine was a 5.2L v8 w/ all-time four wheel drive. The gas mileage sucked...about 13mpg average. Probably around 15-16 highway and 11-12 city. It had the same gas mileage as my 98 silverado w/ a 350 and...

    cold starts fixed

You couldn't get the bolt out, so you pried the intake up with the bolt still in place? You're kidding, right? You're gonna break something and the car will really run like crap then. Take your time and you should be able to get to all of the bolts using a variety of extensions, methods. The...

Tell me I didnt waste my money

I got my heads done last summer. Receipt says "Complete V-Job and surface v8 heads. $100." That sounds really low compared to everyone else here, but here is what they did: Inspected, hot tanked, and surfaced the GT40P's, new valve seals, and a 3 angle valve job. I used my old valves and...

lookin for some knowledge for my build...

Plenty of people turbo or supercharge a stock engine. It's a nice way to add a nice boost of on-demand power without having to crack a bottle. Some people like nitrous as a cheap hp boost, and they don't mind having to fill the bottle and deal w/o the hp with the bottle not open. Bigger...

So... my car caught on fire yesterday

Is the wiring the proper gauge for the amps and distance? What I'm getting at is: How did the fuse holder get hot enough to catch on fire? Obviously it's hot outside and all that, but don't you think it took a little help to catch on fire? A glass holder is a band-aid in my opinion. You...

About how much does it cost to get a hood painted for a fox body?

I've heard some hoods require quite a bit of prep work before getting painted, so dropping them off at the paint shop may not be all that's required unless you pay them for prep work or you want a s hitty looking hood. DigitalGhost: Yanking the engine isn't that hard. I pull my engine and...

    dccontrol help!

What temperature do you have the DCC unit set to turn the fan on at? Is it the dcc unit w/ the knob or did you have to set jumpers? I think most of the newer ones have the knob. Either way, since you know the fan works when given proper power, I'd first double check your installation and...
