    please don't just set it and forget it. you're foot will be seeing the floor board from time to time i'm sure. do it a favor and change the oil and filter every 20 or 30k miles. it does make a difference.

    some people say that you get more hp out of a carb, just remember for every top end hp you might gain, you've more than lost in the bottem end and mid-ramge. stay with efi, your seat of the pants dyno will thank you.

    quite likely yes, u may be suprised to find some tranny shops having them too. most major transmission parts distributors buy them up by the truckload and then sell them cheap to tranny shops. i remember getting some a few years ago for about 40$ canadian with frictions.

    planetaries, drums, shafts ,cases you know pretty much everything not included in a rebuild kit. if it's not making metal then you likely don't have a problem. you're builder may want to upgrade your drum to the ratcheting 'mechanical diode' this is seen as a good thing seeing as ford stuck em...

    1 5/8's are fine for that, if you get the bug to keep goin faster with a blower kit or stroker or both then you may opt for the bigger pipes. my cousin runs 1 5/8 in his 96 300 cubic inch modular with 18 ibs boost. dynoed at 740 hp. so there is lots of room to breath with those pipes.

    just put a hayes kit in mine, the instructions make it sound so easy. that pawl is NOT cool. plan on spending a couple hours for the whole job. removing the seat is pretty much a must.

    the best way to fix the rust is to put a stupidly powerful engine back into the car so that you forget about it. or else make friends with a bodyman/welder and feed him lots of beer. seriously get a body guy to look at it.

    sounds like a good start, you will of course be needing an exchange converter, and the trans shop could find hard parts damage, but go ahead, it sounds like a decent kit.

    i have no idea, i bet thet put them in just to clog up forums such as this. if they dont fit on the coil or in the coil then they of no benefit.

    band is probly fried, when it's rebuilt try to get a bigger od servo piston, it increases the clamping force substantially. is also possible to have leaking end plugs in the vb but not as likely as the burnt band.

    its the rear, 4th gear in the tranny should NEVER make noise.
