Thanks for your help and concern. I won't be driving the car for one day so I will try that on Friday and follow the exact instructions you said to start it up and see it it does this idle problem from a cold start.:hail2:
It goes back to sacrificing luxury for performance. Can't have everything. At least for a daily driver the V-6 will get better mileage and a softer ride over those bumpy roads.

Do you think the V-6 model will have a more comfortable ride on long trips and beat up roads than a CTS-V?
The coolant temp sending unit as described was replaced along with the ECT sensor both new parts but still getting this problem. It seems to appear when weather changes.:shrug:
