    Stock radio wiring question

Thanks for the info. I'll sleep easier tonight. Now for the confession part- this really isn't for my II. It's for my 68 Cougar - I've adapted the 68 face plate to the radio from my Cobra II and plan to use this along with an fm modulated 12 disc hidden JVC changer. I was confused as to...

    Stock radio wiring question

OK, so in other words, the fader control on a stock II is useless since you only have one set of left and right speakers? I realize many of you are probably scratching your heads asking why this guy is trying to hook up a stock radio, but I have my reasons. Thanks for your help.

    Stock radio wiring question

Does anyone know the color codes for the stock 78 am/fm radio speaker wires? The Haynes manual only shows two rear speakers and makes no reference to a front speaker(s), raising the question as to why there is a fader knob below the pushbuttons. I have five wires from the radio: white/green...

    where are all the customs?

Sal: I've got lots of better photos, but I can't seem to figure out how to post 'em. If I resize them to less than 80KB they get tiny. If you give me your email address, I'll send you some better pics.

    where are all the customs?

Here's my version of what the II could have been had Ford let Ghia finish what it had started. (Yes, it's a soft-top convertible 304 4bbl 5spd manual trans.)

    AOD cooling line question

Does it matter which tranny port is connected to which port on the radiator/cooler? Or is there a required direction for flow? If so, what tranny port connects to which radiator port?

    AOD installation problem?

Well, it's been about two weeks of driving now with the AOD and the double-spacer solution seems to be working. I suspect I would have found out if it didn't by now. The only problem I have noticed is that whenever shifting into drive or reverse from park when on an incline, it takes 30-45...

    AMP meter, voltage regulator problem

The good news: If the needle moves at all when you turn on the headlights, it's working as well as any that I've ever seen. The bad news: Older Ford AMP gauges are simply a poor design that barely worked when new.

    Lockar AOD cable alternatives

Lockar aod swap cable info needed I could really use some info from anyone who has installed the lockar tv cable for their aod swap. What I need to know is 1) the length of the tv arm on the transmission (from its pivot point to cable attaching point) and 2) on the throttle lever, the...

    AOD installation problem?

Well, I went for broke and fired her up, hoping for the best. Seems to be ok. I believe the extra thickness of the flywheel was pushing the converter back against the pump housing. From what I've read so far, there is supposed to be a slight bit of clearance between the converter and the...

    AOD installation problem?

Here's what I've got: I just installed an AOD on my 68 using a 28oz, 164 tooth SCAT sfi flywheel from Jegs. When bolting the transmission to the engine, as soon as the bellhousing bolts were tightened, I couldn't turn the engine. I removed the tranny and double-checked the torque converter...

    C4-AOD filler tube question

I've searched the aod swap threads here and on other sites but haven't seen this particular question answered: will the c4 filler tube fit into an AOD?

    67 Kelsey-Hayes Magstar lug question

    Scat Flexplate with AOD?

Anyone here use a Scat 164 tooth flexplate (28oz) on their AOD conversions. They sell for much less than the Windsor-Fox units and are SFI approved. I'm thinking of using one on my 68 j-code 302 with an AOD and am wondering if the Scat unit will work.

Someone should sue them for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Scared the b'jeebees out of me when I saw it there. :D

    Mystery Part in Transmission Pan

Well, technically this is a question related to my 68 cougar, not my Ghia, but I'm confident II folks are smarter than the 5.0 crowd simply because they own II's. :D Anyway, I'm in the process of doing an AOD swap and when I pulled the pan off the AOD tonight, I found a small, tan, plastic...

    Mystery part in tranny pan

Tonight when I pulled the pan off my AOD to swap filters, I found a small, tan plastic mushroom-shaped piece just laying in the pan. It's about an inch and a half long, half inch in diameter with an o-ring around the top part. Anyone recognize it, and more importantly, anyone know where it...

    Missing and Surging

Wow. While driving my 68 Cougar (J code 302) to work this morning, it did the exact same thing as your GT. It bogged and lost power at speed or on accelleration, but idled great. Tach didn't bounce or anything. Checked the points, cap, wires, etc and all looks fine. After the car cooled...
