    Possible driveshaft length issue

If you drive like Grandma Moses then it'll probably work, but if you like to open the car up here and there I think it is not worth the risk. It isn't as simple as risking the driveshaft spline alone, but also the mate for it INside the tranny. I'd call around and have your shaft...

    Rear end swap question

I'm a fan of the Ford "QuadraShock" system and I find it works very well to eliminate wheel hop under hard acceleration or wheel spin. I run stock suspension and have not found a need, personally, to mess with it. I would encourage you to install them. It certainly can't hurt.

    AMSOIL Experience

I've been running my 5.0 for 13 years now on either Castrol Syntec or Mobil 1 synthetics. Here in Canada these cost about 9-10 dollars per quart. Yesterday I decided to try AMSOIL for 14 dollars per quart. I had no expectations and thought it was probably more of a gimmick than anything...

Learned about Fram orange can of death

... a long story short ... When my regular premium oil filter wasn't available, and I was in a time crunch, I recently installed a Fram oil filter on my 5.0. To boot - it wasn't their el cheapo filter, but one of their top ones and I paid very good money for it. After installation, I...

    T-5 Tranny jerky/bucking problem, Help!

You say that when in neutral you hear a rattling noise from tranny. If you step on the clutch (engine running) and that noise goes away then it means your clutch throw out bearing is shot.

    Ford power lock actuators

Steeda Ford Performance Parts - Steeda.ca (Canada) has power door lock actuators for FoxBodies for sale for $29.17 (Canadian funds) that are made by Latemodel Restoration Supply. I haven't checked it out, but I'm sure the price is similar at Steeda USA. In any event, quality expectations...

My mustang had to set for 4 yrs. PLEASE HELP!!!

Your post is so general that it is hard to answer in anything but general terms. The short answer for me is that, as long as the car is "safe", then start driving and tackle the issues that you haven't already tackled on the fly. By "safe" I mean good tires, brakes (which weren't the...

What does a bad throwout bearing sound like?

Typcial sign of a bad TOB is when the car is idling in neutral you can here a sort of empty rattling/soft grinding sound (others have called it chirping). In any event, as soon as you step on the clutch the sound immediately stops and restarts as soon as you take your foot off the clutch again.

Help Identifying Threaded Insert in Block

Sometimes, especially for cast iron blocks, threaded holes like these are used by the manufacturer to move the block around from place to place while the engine is getting made. There will usually be a similar hole at the other end of the block, but on the other side. Ovbiously, such lift...

other drivers reacting to presence of 5.0

I drive two cars. One is the toy 5.0 you see in my avatar. The other is a daily driver Saturn coupe. I find that the drivers around me all tend to get aggressive when I'm in the 5.0. It's like the car itself is perceived as issuing a challenge or something. What get's me the most is that it's...

I hate when Mustangs attract REDNECKS

I drive two cars. One is the 5.0 you see in my avatar. The other is a Saturn coupe. I find that the drivers around me all tend to get aggressive when I'm in the 5.0. It's like the car itself is perceived as issuing a challenge or something. What get's me the most is that it's the people...

water coming in from behind my dash!!

Unless you've been using a pressure washer and feeding water at odd angles where it doesn't belong, I would say there is an excellent chance that you are going to have to remove the windshield and address the leak that is most likely occuring at its base. Hopefully a simple reseal at an auto...

    Sunroof Trouble HELLPPPP!!!!

Here's the deal: Some butcher hacked into the roof of your car and installed one of those horrible aftermarket sunfoof assemblies. They are designed TOTALLY differently than the factory sunroofs, which basically have a high metal ridge that runs around the perimeter of the sunken opening in...

really starting to think my car is twisted. how to check for car being straight?

I have seen cases where a heavy guy drives a car for a few years and the car ends up sitting lower on the driver's side. Every time the car is used the driver has to be in it, but not every drive has passengers aboard. So maybe you and/or the previous owner (if you are heavy) have helped cause...

    5.0 Temperature Gauge help?

I think that the only true use of the factory gauge is to let you know if something has changed. For example I changed my radiator and found that (relative to previous reading) my needle sat a bit lower and stayed there on hot days. Even it someone tries to answer your request (and I don't...

    A Happy Exhaust Story

Back in 1998 I bought my 1991 stock GT from the orignal owner and it came with factory exhaust (full mufflers and all 4 little catalytic converters up front). I too had fallen in love with that unique 5.0 sound and so was determined to get it. I spent about $350 right away at a local exhaust...
