Compression/Leakdown testing - must engine be warm?

isnt your engine still in the car? Just make sure the oil is on the cyl walls as suggested. up at operating temp really isnt too important. you are mostly looking for variation cyl-to-cyl so everything is equally loose.

Firing up the Blown, Stroked and Injected beast

yea 500 is pushing that block, keep a decent tune on it and you can make it live. make sure it doesnt rev high or detonate and check for blown head gaskets once in awhile.

    Fast XFI fuel injection

the xfi is a great system. not exactly plug and play though. but I think one of the best efi controllers out there due to its extensive programming capability. we used it to convert an aston martin to efi and it supported e85 tunes, 93 octane tunes, and even propane tunes and could easily be...

Just how safe can you feasibly get a first generation Mustang to be?

bnickel, i understand what you are saying. You have a classic that could drive everyday. I do too. do i drive it to work, through the snow, and leave it on the street at night? nope. do I expect it to start everyday and be 100% reliable? nope. its to be expected with older cars, things happen...

Just how safe can you feasibly get a first generation Mustang to be?

if you buy a 10 year old car all your major depreciation is all gone, plus it has the modern features that can save your a$$. a classic will never compete with the safety of a newer car. calling this and that "overrated" sounds like an excuse to justify buying a classic. so just call it like it...

    5.3l lsx in 65 stang

they have great durability (6 bolt mains, well designed block, splayed, larger ## head bolts), they have great stock cylinder head design that almost matches aftermarket ford cyl heads, and they are very efficient in using the combustion chamber. Im not saying they don't have their small...

    5.3l lsx in 65 stang

ok i looked on the net and it looks like you can get a good one of these used for~$3K nicely. That leaves you some good cash to put a decent 4l60e, converter, and electronics. this motor looks pretty cool for what it is. a 6.0L LQ4 would be a killer with a hot cam with its bigger bore. PS: I...
