    How are.....

My local installer has a pair, including xovers that he'll let go for about $30... let me know if interested. Sorry if I offended anyone... didn't realize there was a more appropriate classifieds forum. But anyway, I'm not selling these or making anything off of them, just letting you know...

    How are.....

Head unit output is typically weak, you should be careful not to run it very hard, and don't turn up the bass. You'll want to consider decent amps as well. IMO

There are display options right under the latest listed thread, and the default is set to one day! Change it to longer and you'll see many posts. I'm afraid that many users think this forum is dead because it only shows a couple of posts, then move on without posting... I know I have. I sent a...

Ever heard that you can't please everyone? Don't even try... if you think these subs sound good, they're fantastic!! IMO

    How are.....

b/a are fairly well regarded... but it's not too much power that blows them, it's too little. Make sure your amps are cleanly powered w/out clipping distortion - this is what fries speaker elements. The speakers can likely take the rated power; the amps likely can't put it out. IMO

    speaker replacement ideas

New plan as install is approaching completion (as if that'll ever happen)! LOL I'm not even close, as it turns out, to the original plan, and I don't think I can even remember what that was! Here's what's done: 1) 10" sub in sealed box in trunk, mounted to passenger side but movable 2) 5...

    Costum Sub Box?

My wimpie little sub box, custom made by a carpenter customer of mine: inside dimensions 13 x 13 x 9.5", 3/4" MDF and holds just one 10" sub which, believe me, is more than enough (for music inside); total cost $20. Bass response is best when the cabinet sits in a corner, so it's mounted by...

    Questions about a system

I've found that neither CC nor BB carries the best stuff available; generally it's just not mass-produced to make the pricing attractive enough for their customers. But I'll give kudos to either: installations are top-notch and they're willing to install other than what they sell. IMO

Help running power and speaker wire

Good advice, but in keeping audio signal away from power wire, I suggest running one down one side and the other on the complete other side. Run your head unit output wires with your speaker wires on one side of the car, amp power and amp turn-on, maybe even head unit ground down the other side...

    Hello!

I hope so, nhra, the 2-din McIntosh replacement for my 1-din Mcintosh head unit came today but without any harnesses; fortunately I think the McIntosh plant knows me by name and I'll have them within a couple of days! lol Turns out my existing 4-channel amp is functioning fine on 2 channels and...

    Questions about a system

I think he means component speakers in the doors: separate mids and tweeters, a nice setup if you have enough power.

    Shaker 500 replacement...

Shaker 500 was standard on GT Premium package... plus it was what was on the lot with no other options in November when I bought mine. I agree with ExCon: change out speakers first, then add decent amps, then change head unit for best bang-for-the-buck.

    8" Subs in doors?

Sorry, but I've been totally and obsessively brainwashed by McIntosh since around 1975! Short of that, though, what you've listed is highly regarded by most posters. Good luck with it.

    Hello!

The Shaker 500 (and probably the 1000 as well) has two separate amps. Preamp outlets, not that I'm aware of, but you could tap into lines pre-amplifier with a little luck.

    Questions about a system

Speakers are pretty cheap if you buy cheap speakers. Everything has to mesh together to have the optimum result, which depends entirely on personal preference: upgrade the system for YOU, since, I assume, you're the one listening to it. (If you're out to entertain the masses by loudness...

    8" Subs in doors?

I still think you just need a cleanly powered sub in the trunk; if you amp it separately you can cut the output and it won't overpower your satellite coaxes. You may need a decent equalizer (by decent I mean one that tailors frequency response more than it adds noise). Lots of options available.
