WTF is this noise, and why is it happening??

Sounds familiar! Definately rocker. On mine, the rocker lock nut had backed all the way off and the rocker was flopping around. Sounds like a couple of marbles under the valve cover. Don't run the engine anymore until you pop the cover and have a look. Need to make sure the lock nuts are...

    Too close for comfort?

Not sure about the early control valve fittings. Best bet would be to call someone like CJ Pony Parts or your favorite supplier and have them look it up to verify.

    Too close for comfort?

I had the same issue with my 347 and stock PS hoses. After doing a bunch of research, I finally ended up just getting a set of factory hoses for the big block application. This allowed me to route the hoses down below the motor mounts and make the connection to the ram, keeping them far away...

    Blue smoke under hard acceleration

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Let me see if I can answer some of the questions: How was the engine broken-in? Did it not smoke at all before filling with synthetic? What kind of piston rings? Broke the engine in with normal driving for the first 500 miles, varying RPM's and...

    Blue smoke under hard acceleration

I called and spoke with the engine builder tonight about e problem. He asked if my valve covers had baffles? Yes. Asked if my PCV valve was good? Told him wasn't sure, he suggested as a test I put a clear fuel filter inline to see if oil was passing by the PCV. Not sure I will go through the...

    Blue smoke under hard acceleration

Thanks for the replies. I will call the engine builder and see what they reccomend. I ran regular oil for the first 2 changes and then used Mobil 1 synthetic on the last oil change. I am wonderring if the builder requires/suggests a specific viscocity oil which could be contributing...

    Blue smoke under hard acceleration

Motor was built by Coast High Performance and is the Street Fighter and has about 1,000 miles on it, mostly 50 mile weekend joy rides. I will pull my plugs when I get a chance. Is there anything that can be done if it is an oil control problem caused by the rings? Kind of embarrassing when I do...

    Blue smoke under hard acceleration

I have had this problem since I did my engine swap, but thought it was more to do with tuning issue so just continue to tune on the car and not pay much attention to it. But I think I have the motor dialed in really well now and I am still getting blue smoke out the exhaust under hard...

    Rear End Ratio?

I'm running 3.73's with my T5 and think it is the perfect ratio. If you plan to spend time on the strip, you might want to go steeper, but for street driven, I have no regrets.

King Cobra Clutch and 289 flywheel

Why not order the matching Ford Racing flywheel? This is what I am running with my KC clutch: Ford Racing M-6375-A302B - Ford Racing Flywheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com I first went the cheaper route and bought a billet steel flywheel off eBay for $100 thinking I was smart for saving...

    1967 Shelby GT500

Really nice work. Been following all your threads and you and your team are true craftsmen. White stripes would be a big mistake, leaving it solid green would be real nice. If the owner really wants stripes I would suggest something a bit more subtle with the green like maybe a gray tone with...

gas tank sucking air in through the pop down cap

My buddies 67 had the same problem with the tank only better. He had just got the car and didn't know about this problem, he would drive maybe 15 minutes and the car would stall because the pump was starved for gas. Took days to figure out what was going on as it wasn't obvious. He drilled...

    oil pan?

I plugged the dipstick hole on mine with a small cork and RTV sealant. I tried to find a metal freeze plug to fit but could not. Been a few years and no leaks, but am sure there is a better way to do this. I know you could tap the hole and put a bolt in it, but didn't want to chance getting...

    347 carb...a new question...

I am running 3.73 rear gears with my 347,T5 and 670cfm carb. Super responsive on the streets and very comfortable on the highway in 5th gear. I don't have a tach yet sadly so couldn't tell you the rpm at 70.

Suggestions for good quality rear quarters

He will be looking for full quarters. The PO to the PO did a bad job on replacing the quarters and so would be best to replace with fills at this point. MustangMutt, if you want to shoot me a price via PM, I will pass it along. Thanks.

    347...best carb question....

When I got my 347 I asked e engine builder to suggest a carb and they (Coast High Performance) recommended the Holley Street Avenger 670 cfm, which is what I went with. I haven't dyno tuned the car yet, but runs very strong and the vac secondaries don't need much fussing. You will love the T5...
