Suggestions for good quality rear quarters

A buddy is picking up a 69 Mach 1 that needs both rear quarters replaced and am looking for suggestions on where to get good quality sheet metal. Are there original Ford tooling products available out there or is he at the mercy of chancing the reproduction offerings?

    Help with Clutch Setup

Do your homework for sure. I have power brakes as well and I spent considerable time researching to make sure I got the right brake booster which would fit with the hydraulic master. I am sure ther is a solution available, spend some time searching the forum, there are a lot of threads on...

    Help with Clutch Setup

+1 on the hydraulic clutch. Have a 347 backed by a T5 and used the JME hydraulic clutch. I don't think JME offers these anymore, but there are other options out there. Not only is the pedal effort and feel like a modern vehicle, but you don't have any clearance problems or cosmetic issues that...

    Low Vacuum, where to look?

You mention that it revs good while in neutral but not under a load while driving and also runs rich. Might want to double check your firing order to make sure it is correct. If you are off it will rev fine in neutral but under load will have no power. All it takes is just 1 plug wire to be...

    What Clutch to Buy???

Optimus Prime - The '68 Coupe

You are doing good work there and looking forward to seeing the updates as you progress along. The extensions do have a rubber gasket and you can get them at any of the mustang part suppliers for fairly cheap. They will help seal the weather out and prevent paint chipping when you reassemble.

    Horn Problem

Just to put some closure on this post - I was able to resolve the problem. I had to pull the guage cluster in order to access the main harness. Had a short in one spot where the insulation had chafed. Simple fix, bitch to find. Thanks for all the help!

    Horn Problem

Appreciate all the great advice guys. Made some progress and have narrowed the problem to the following: I need to pull the guage cluster to get better access to the wiring harness as it is tucked up under the dash pretty well. Was a little hot to keep going on it this afternoon, maybe in a...

    Horn Problem

Bump... I will have some time tomorrow to work on this, looking for any further input on how to isolate. Help is appreciated.

    Horn Problem

Ok, still haven't figured it out, but here is the update: I disconnect the wires to each horn, push the horn and still see a spark. I disconnect the steering wheel harness and with my test light, I touch the yellow wire and it lights up. The blue with yellow wire does not light up. I...

    Horn Problem

I know a small spark at the contact points is normal since it is actively grounding and closing the circuit, but this shoots a pretty sizable spark and not just from the contact points, but also from the main power feed going to the horn ring. Plus the wires get real hot after pressing it a few...

    Horn Problem

I disconnected and reconnected the harness and didn't look corroded at all. Given I am getting spark when I ground the horn contact, it seems like I have an open circuit or short.

    Horn Problem

So I finally have some time to get the Stang inspected so I can start enjoying it for the summer and the dang horn doesn't work. So I go back home and start to troubleshoot. Here's what I have found: I jumped a wire from the + battery to the horn and it works no problem. I removed the horn...

    New question regarding oil slinger

If you already have the oil slinger, then I suggest using it - but of course install it properly. I didn't have one and couldn't locate one when I did my build so I am not running with one. Hard to say if there are any negative effects since I probably have ~1,500 miles on the motor and...

    1967 coupe steering issues

Check the hoses where they connect to the control valve. When I replaced mine a couple of years ago, I thought I had them back in properly, but there was some interference when turning the wheel to one side, it was hitting the metal part of one of the hoses preventing the wheel from turning to...

    Carb Problems

Could be a number of things including the idle being set too low, fuel bowl levels too low, vacuum issue. Are you sure the carb is hooked up properly? Is your vacuum advance on the distributor connected to the port vacuum line? I would have someone familiar with carb tuning go through and set...

    Routing Power steering lines

I got a set of hoses for a big block 390 car for my 68. They routed them under the engine mount and away from the header/manifold. The pressure line is a 2 piece unit. You can also buy the mounting bracket made for the big block hose routing if you want - I did without and it's fine.

    347 issues

Not sure how others do it, but with the car/engine cold, I start it up and use my bare hand to feel all around the flange, tubes and heads. I have AFR 185 heads and it turned out the smog plug on the back side of the passenger head actually backed out causing a major leak. You would swear it...

    347 issues

Check carefully for an exhaust leak around the headers. I chased what I thought to be noisy rockers for a couple of months only to find out I had an exhaust leak. Everyone who heard it agreed it sounded like rocker noise, but we were all wrong. As for cooling, make sure your electric fans are...
