It doesn't make sense - vacuum advance

I tend to think this would be along the lines of the problem. When you adjust the Vac Advance using the allen wrench, it's simply moving the plate within the distributor housing. If is moved and hitting this wire, it could cause this problem. I would remove the cap and inspect things...

    Carb Tuning Question

+1 on all of this and will just add that I had same symptoms even after the above was checked out. My plugs showed I was lean (were very light, some were white). I have a Holley Street Avenger 67 cfm. I increased my jet size by 4 increments and it is running really well now. The surging is...

    sputtering problem

Sounds to me like vapor lock. Do a search for "vapor lock" and you will get lots to read and troubleshoot with.

    Throwout bearing starting to squeal...

Be careful with regards to putting grease in there. You can easily contaminate your clutch, which will require replacement. For the T5 setups, the throwout bearing should be adjusted to slightly engage the pressure plate. Jack the car up and get under there to check how much play it's...

    9" Rear Assembly - '66FB

I paid $600 for my 4 pinion Traction-Lok center section, all new internals. I will see if I can dig up the contact info of the guy who builds and sells them, I bought it at Carlisle last year but think I have his card somewhere. My buddy also bought a 9" from him a couple of months after I did...

    hesitation on 302

Glad to hear it was something simple!

    Almost finished pictures.

Car looks really great, congrats on a nice build. Regarding the side stripes, I think if you are going to keep the lower molding, then don't do the stripes. I think it's one or the other, but not both.

    67 Console Radio Faceplate Repair?

I would try JB Weld. The other product you mentioned for pot metal probably works too, but never heard of it.

    hesitation on 302

You can pull the plugs to see if it is running too rich - they will be black around the tips. Souds to me like an intermittent fuel delivery problem. Like if you had a partially clogged fuel filter. I would start there and check the simple stuff first. If the car sat for a while, you could...

    Should I get Cherry Bombs?

Do you have headers on it now with the Flowmaster 40's? If not, I would add the headers, keeping the 40's and try that before swapping mufflers. I am using Hooker Comp headers into 2.5" exhaust with Flowmaster 40's and can't imagine putting anything louder on there. Lastly, IMHO I would be more...

    mustang exhaust

I have seen the write ups and yes Magnaflow did outperform in terms of flow, but it was marginal and wouldn't call it "FAR". For most street driven cars, it simply comes down to sound preference. The 2 systems you are considering sound very different, so you should really try to hear them...

    9" Rear Assembly - '66FB

I was at a similar decision point last year, trying to decide if I should swap the 8" to a 9". After talking with some more knowledgable people, I decided to save the money and kept the 8", but upgraded my open diff to the newer 4 pinion Traction-Lok with 3.80:1 gearset (I have a T5 and this is...

Help: '67 HiPo starts, but won't hold idle below 1500

The fule line should be a compression type seal, so usually no thread sealer (teflon tape) is required. You don't want the tapes to break up and get into your carb and clog jets etc. Were you careful to not cross thread when you bolted the fuel line back on? As long as it's threaded on...

Snapped off screw while mounting shorty antenna

You shouldn't need to remove the fender. Just remove the tire and the inner splash shield. That should allow you to get to the base for removal. Of course you will also need to remove the plug from the back of the radio, which means tearing into the upper stack a bit.

Why Can't I stop My 351w From Dieseling (Engine Runon)

Your timing seems too low based on everything I have ever read about what Ford small blocks like. Should be in the 12 to 16 degree initial timing based on engine mods etc. Have you tried bringing it up to 12?

    Dash question

Yup and they are a PITA to install :notnice: Remove the glovebox to give yourself plenty of room (even with it removed, there isn't much room behind there...). They thread on the posts easy enough when you have room, but getting a deep socket back there is challenging, but you will get it.

    67 Restomod Progress w/Question

Good work! Sounded like a timing issue... Glad it was something easy for you to resolve.

Thoughts on why I am busting radiators?

Do you have rubber isolation pads on the bottom of the radiator where it sits on the frame? Check the upper mounts too. If not, you are subjecting the radiator to taking the impact of every bump in the road with metal on metal, which is pretty harsh. It could be manifesting with cracks in the...

    Cable clutch adjustment/protection questions

I would use a thermo sleeve like this - Summit sells them for $15. Descrption: Protect your wires and hoses from harsh environments. Using Thermo-Sleeve will provide your wires and hoses with protection from both radiant and conductive heat. The aluminized sleeving reflects over 90 percent...

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

Congrats! I knew it was going to be something really basic causing the problem. I thought you had ruled out stabbing the distributor several times early on, but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess.
