I have a Holley dual sync distributor which will not work with your stock ecu
I built a car for a friend of mine with a box r and stock distributor as well
When you start to mill that spacer you have to watch the upper intake getting Into the distributor cap especially with that big ass stock distributor.
All this to me is not worth on your comvo going from a standard r upper. I doubt you’re going to notice any difference
I understand , just so you know TFS twisted wedge heads work with the stock pistons to but that’s not the convo here. Especially with a stock cam.
I had those same rockers years ago they are the same as 93 cobra rockers.
All the shims end up realistically doing is making up for pushrod...
What are you checking ? Pushrod length or just shimming your rockers. I didn’t realize those heads still use pedestal rockers
Shimming your rockers , that ive never had to do I never ran pedestals except on a used engine I had but that didn’t last long.

How are you checking this ? To measure technically you should be used a solid lifter or a modified Hyd that the plunger won’t collapse.
1/2 turn to 3/4 preload on the stud mount rockers from zero lash. I’ve found some lifters like a little Less then others.
I use studs on everything as well it’s a pain in the ass to lift the intake when it needs to come off but the assembly experience is night and day
Also I usually retorque about 3-4 times in sequence before I even start it
Let it sit 15-20 min and it’ll be loose again and re tq
It cracked because of the spacer under it. The spacer is softer then the Intake just mated to the lower.
So a lot of people including myself many moons ago over tighten and the ear cracks because it actually crushes the spacer enough to flex it.
Put it in a vice and try to roll the pad down a little with some force
A little fuel leak while testing after Isn’t going to cause some instant fire all you’d have to do is prime the pump a few times before you start it to check for leaks.
