How hard is it to replace the clutches in a posi 9" rear by one's self?

I wouldnt use synthetic fluid, good quality 80w90 and one bottle of ford XL3. The best clutches to get are the ford/motorsport set but some of the aftermarket stuff will work just fine. the stock posi has a preload so there is no delay in action, both wheels get power and will spin the same...

how to plug the small hole in thermo housing

you want the water pump on all the time, there are alot of fan controlers out there that work just fine. I just have mine on the same switch as the pump, on all the time. Im looking into a variable controler that uses a temp sensor on the radiator to control the fan speed.

how to plug the small hole in thermo housing

electric water pumps should be just as reliable as a standard pump for street duty, Ive never had a problem with both the electric drives and electric pumps. They are at max flow anytime they are on and Im gonna guess atleast twice the flow of a standard belt driven pump at 3500 rpms. I dont...

how to plug the small hole in thermo housing

How hard is it to replace the clutches in a posi 9" rear by one's self?

simple repair. check and record backlash before you remove the carrier. mark the carrier halves before splitting them. you may want to get a posi kit that includes the springs, plate, clutch spacers and new clutch pack. there should be one washer behind the clutch hub. lube the new clutches...

Considering lots of Nitrous, what do you suggest?

either the NOS snipper kit or the Super Powershot. dont get greedy with it. as long as you back the timming and run premium gas you should be ok. I have the NOS bigshot plate on my 289 set at 300.

    Street/Stip 306 N/A Carb Combo?

Would be better with flat or dome pistons. a good size mechanical flat cam in the 250-260 range at .050. go with the vic jr and a holley 650HP. Blue pump, regulator and 3/8 hardline will work for a strip car. you will need another pump to feed to oxide.

swapping gears do i need bearing kit

if your gonna get a bearing kit then make sure its from richmond or you will end up with cheap bearings. with motive gears, the setup will need new pinion shims and carrier shims. your stock bearings should be ok unless they get damaged during the install.

who makes long tubes to go around an AOD in a classic?

And if that doesnt look like what you want then try a set of custom built headers that will both fit and support the power from a 347, only if you want it done right.

    Aftermarket iron heads

I run the world JR heads on my 289 and like the power from them, dont like the need for a specific header to clear the revised spark plug location, not as much of a problem in the 67+ cars but in the 64-66 stangs it is a problem. I may be goin with a ported X302 aluminum head soon.

    p1 or p1-1 or p1-2?????? NEED ADVICE

if future plans involve a built short block then get the D1, the p1sc will make nice power in any shape you want but is limited if you want more power. the D1 has less of a chance of belt slipage and is just a better blower with an intercooler.

What is a safe redline? 289

If the valve train is correct and there is no big restrictions in the exhaust then you should make power past 5000 and maybe a 5800 rpm shift point. If it was well built the the bottom end should be ok to 6000 rpm shifts but the valve train will hold things up first if not built up.
