    I've used the exact same method many times and it has yet to fail me. Only problem is if you don't have or acess to a welder. If that is the case hopefully you can take it somewhere and pay someone to weld it. Mustangchris gave some good insight on a couple of methods as well. Good luck!

    What does your 60' times look like? What pressure are you running in the tires? Are you getting the tires plenty hot? I agree about the front end, work on getting that set up properly and it will pay good dividends IMO. I've seen cars go 10's on 8" tires, it ALL comes down to suspension...

    I'm betting you have a Mellings HP pump and not what is quoted. Do you have the p/n for the pump? If it is a HP pump that will explain the pressure. Changing oil weight/filter will have a little effect, but won't help w/as much pressure as you are running IMO. Either way, it is too much...

    W/the tire size you have I'd say you're in the neighborhood of 25.5" tall tires. You can now use ultrastangs link to help you figure RPM @ 60mph. I usually say 'don't fear the gear', but you want a weekend cruiser so maybe opt for less than the 4.11's, but more than the 3.55's.

    That's not a bad price for someone that wants to just slap one in and be done w/it. If you know what you're doing and have the tools they are fairly simple to install yourself, as I stated earlier. I've installed three sets after I was shown how to install my first set.

    I bought only one set of 'alternative' gears myself... lesson learned. I like the FMS stuff and have used Richmond once as well, neither gave me any noise problems. I also agree w/the powertrax rear. If you can install everything yourself you could save some of your cash for more parts...

    You are correct sir; RT has no effect on ET, only when racing the driver in the next lane does it come into play. IMO, sticky tires, gear change (assuming you have stock gears which is hindering you), and getting all your current power to the ground in the most profecient manner will drop...
