T5 Swap - Driveshaft and output yoke

How much shorter? I have an alum DS left over from my foxbody (89-93 mustang) days and want to use it in my 65. Would that be a no go or should I hold on to it and see if it's possible? Car will have a 351W, Hiedts front end, C4, 9"... Sorry to hijack this thread :p

Coolant/Oil Mixing - found freeze plug in oil pan

Are you sure you had good pressure when it initially ran? What is good pressure (readings while it ran)? What kind of thread sealer did you intially use? Using it again or another? I use ARP thread sealer and have never had a problem, but there are other brands that are just as reliable...

    ALTERNATORS...

Something else I want to add... buy your wire from a welding supply store. They have wire that is fairly cheap, resistant to heat and the elements, and very flexible; they use hundreds of strands instead of the 'other' wiring kits that include wire that has 10 strands and bends like house wire...

battery keeps dieing Dont know why.

The battery helps stabilize the pulsating DC current from the alternator. W/that said a couple of things can happen: First, pulling a battery cable causes an arc and we know arcs aren't good. Second, the alternator starts to overcharge; it has current, but where does it have to go? The...

    ALTERNATORS...

For 140A I'd step up to 2ga wire, you could get by w/4ga wire. On a side note, the person who told you using a small wire can cause problems is right, but how he/she says it happens is incorrect. Not really a need to get into how it happens, just know you have to use the correct wire size...

Taurus fan install(in the process of)

The wire colors weren't mentioned, nor did we ask about them. I feel bad cause it wasn't covered and we could've saved him time & money. I'm sorry about that Iskwezm. But at least someone was paying attention (Baskin :nice: )

    Looking to Regear the stang

As long as you have a tranny cooler to keep the temps down you'll do fine. You want to keep it less than 200*. I like my tranny temp to be between 180*-190*. BTW, how did you calculate that RPM? That seems high to me...

    Looking to Regear the stang

If you want pep, 'Don't fear the gear'... go for 3.75's :nice: . I ran 4.10's w/a C4 and traveled on the highway, but not too far; mostly around town, and a few trips to the track. I can't honestly tell you about the mileage drifference, cause it wasn't a DD and I was having too much fun...

battery keeps dieing Dont know why.

Did you know that is a terrible idea? If you want to check the battery/alt go to a auto parts store (checker, auto zone or whatever you have w/in your region) and let them check it for FREE. What is your voltage while the car is running? How about when it's not running? Do you know how to...

help me decide 289 or 347?

I was thinking the same thing, but would like to add you replace the oil pump & pick-up tube & clean/check the crank for any metal. If you can fix the 289 it'll give you more of an opportunity to save to build the 347/331. If you don't build the motor yourself and need a shop to build it, I...

Taurus fan install(in the process of)

The Taurus and Mark VIII fan share the same exact fan motor: ~100A on start up & ~ 30A continuous on low and a little more on high-speed. The DC Control would be a better choice since it uses PWM to control start up current spike and uses temp probs that can be tailored to the users desired...

    March underdrive or high flow?

I've run UD crank and H20 pump on a few different vehicles w/no problems in the Phoenix heat. I use a big radiator, Mark VIII fan, hi flow pump and don't use the alt pulley. You can always use just the crank pulley.

Taurus fan install(in the process of)

Thanks, that is great advice to pass on. Correct wiring size is required.

    New times from last night!!!

    Fuel Pump in modified motors

Damn 3 filters!! I've only run one and have yet to have a problem, but as long as it works who cares. Just curious, you haven't had any problems w/not running a return? I know a lot of ppl that have and only a few that don't encounter problems.

Taurus fan install(in the process of)

Yeah, those taurus fans use the same motor as the Mark VIII, the fan blade pitch differniates the 'sucking' power of the two. I was hoping you wouldn't have to upgrade alts. That's the bad news... good news is it'll never overheat again :D There are many ford vehicles that came stock w/a...

    Need some more power...

How much power and how do you intend to use the car? The absolute best bang for the buck in nitrous, but that may not meet your needs tho. Gears work wonders for acceleration and all out performance. It's difficult to answer w/out knowing the first 2 questions....

    C4 Transmission -- I think I screwed the pouch

HHhmmm... I stand corrected. But for that price he can build the AOD or purchase a built AODE. The AODE is fairly stout on its own and requires less of a build-up. That's interesting tho... thanks for the info.

    Fuel Pump in modified motors

It's nice to control pressure, but not necessary. You're gonna need a gauge if you get one, remember it has to be mounted OUTSIDE the car. It's nice to have it where you can see it while you drive; kinda hard to read FP on the top end if the gauge is under the hood. Personally, I use 2. One...
