Finally Got My Car Running Properly (lessons Learned)

After about a year since putting it back together from an intake swap and port job, and almost 2 years in storage (but running) before that, I figured out what I did wrong and what went wrong. My mustang runs better than ever. I had very limited free time to work on it, which caused it to take...

Engine Radiator Fan Shroud And Overflow Tank

Regardless of your fan type, your thermostat was stuck open. Not only is spilling coolant dangerous to animals and bad for the environment, in this case it would mean the radiator isn't full and the cooling system wouldn't work as well as a result. At a minimum it means more maintenance on the...

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

A lead acid battery would explode at the voltage it takes to damage a LiFePO4 battery.

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

@stykthyn What in our conversation has led you to believe that the battery is not better suited for the task than a lead one? If you want to move your CG, you can add weight lower than 2-3 feet off the ground and farther back than the trunk/hatch area, meaning less weight to accomplish the same...

Typical internet communications. Debating irrelevant points and not comprehending the message. The battery works. I just want to make the system better and share it.

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

The stock regulator should put out 13.8 to 14.2 volts and a maximum of 14.4 volts. This, as well as the 14.8 volts my worn out regulator peaked at should work just fine. In fact, my lead acid battery was probably at more risk of over-voltage than the new lithium one. It will only lose 1 volt...

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

They have the best track record of any battery chemistry in motorcycles, electric cars, electric motorcycles, solar power, wind power, RC cars, etc. Mustangs are not different from other cars when it comes to electrical needs, and only slightly different from modern motorcycles. I have been...

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

"I'm going to run the LiFePO4 battery with only a fuse since that's higher than a lead acid battery could handle."

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

Solution: To back up the voltage regulator on a standard alternator, an in-line regulator at 14 volts can be used. These are a little expensive ($150) and will cause a drop out of about a volt. If the car charges at 20v, it will drop to 14v, if the car charges at 15v, it will meet the desired...

Engine Radiator Fan Shroud And Overflow Tank

That's a nice kit, at a decent price. I just ordered this, all you need is a relay above the amperage of the fans. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C39C6I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Get an electric fan, for the price of that shroud you can buy one and a controller. A reservoir is a reservoir, don't waste money on an expensive one. If you're going to get a shroud for the current fan, it will probably have to be aftermarket or modified. If you think it will fit, you don't...

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

I'm trying to find a solution that could be applied to any mustang (or every car in general) without requiring excessive wiring and prevent over-voltage for any type of battery/system. I don't need a basic electrical theory lesson. I have a decent knowledge base, but I haven't seen everything...

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

You're right, I overlooked that, a Zener diode is still a better option. The battery should be OK as long as it isn't charged over 14.6 Volts, so a voltage regulator that works properly shouldn't ever cause over-charging. However, I want to have some insurance to assure it doesn't happen.

    Electrical Lifepo4 Battery Replacement

The included charger goes up to 14.6V, which is the maximum charge a lead acid battery should receive also. My stock output (65-75 amp) alternator was putting out its maximum of 14.8V immediately after starting the car for the first time in 3 months, but most likely because the voltage regulator...
