How Much Power can a 351 handle

If you are worried about it go with an early block, a 1969-70 would be ideal. Thats as strong as you can get before stepping up to aftermarket. A 71-74 would be ok to and they are abit cheaper then the 9.48 blocks. If you look in the classifieds I'm sure you will find some. Matt

Interesting engine combo in an old MM+FF mag

Of course, that is if you believe everything you read, my mustang runs 9s NA with a 9:1 compression ratio and a stock lower end and stock suspension. I just wrote that line of BS and if it was in a mustang magazine I could probably make a bazillion dollars selling whatever parts I put together...

    do i need a tuner?

Tweecer has a learning curve no doubt, but with the useful tools available to use with it, anybody with a little patience can tune their mustang. There are whole websites devoted to it. Tweecer RT, a laptop, EA and BE and a couple weekends of going for a drive and datalogging, then running the...

Sorry only case I have is a fresh tranny I am selling, I had trouble finding a case and eventually got lucky when I started calling rebuild shops. Try that maybe? Matt

    stroking a 351w to 408

I'd buy one myself, I did it your way on my last motor, and I barely saved anything as I cannot do the machine work myself. Why not buy one from FordStrokers.com? Matt

    331 Short block

I'm in Florida and my next motor will come from FordStrokers.com, if I was in Chicago I'd be happy that I could go pick it up and get a great product with great service, AND not pay shipping. Matt

is it possible to install oil pump shaft from distributor hole?

Drop the pan or your next posts will be asking for advice on how to rebuild your motor. Even the silly clip on the shaft is enough to totally screw up your motor, drop the pan and replace the thing with a billet one(20 bucks or so) and use a one piece oil pan gasket when you re-install(another...

    79' 200 I6 Mustang to 351

351C, 302, and 351W all share the same engine mounts and what trannsmissions will bolt up to them. 351C has the timing cover kind of built into the block so all you need is a flat plate over the top, here is what it looks like...

    which 351?

Have to compare apples to apples, stock blocked 351C and 351W will both hold 500+ hp reliably, some take them as high as 700 without issues. Aftermarket blocks are available for both C and W. Someone mentioned earlier that 351C parts cost more. Which parts? I purchased a block and heads for...

    SBC in fox

Ignore the naysayers and do what you want, however the money issue is a moot point as there are tons of both roller 351 blocks, early beefier blocks, Clevelands, and sub 2000 dollar aftermarkets if you are really going wild, any of those can be built to have enough horsepower to make you change...

    was this worth the price

I'd go with a set of Canfields and a custom cam, all the bolt-ons in the world won't help much if the package does not work together as a whole. If that is not enough once you do that, then think about squeezing it but a well sorted hci 5.0 with a good cam, should be a sub 12 second car. Make...

    which 351?

There are a few things to consider between 351C and 351W, the Windsor is probably easier and more common. The Cleveland is not as easy a motor to build but built right, I'd take that route. Clevor is 351C heads on a Windsor block. 351C have a fanatical following, there is a lot of bad info...

    351 c into 91 Mustang

I would go with the Cleveland you have, hopefully it is a 4V headed motor, stroke it to 408, beef up a c-4(not expensive). Run the 4Vs but replace the valves if they are stock, the 2 piece valve in the 351C love to come apart which has a bad effect on your wallet, set up decently people get...

Time for an overhaul!... now what do I do?

Last I checked, you can buy a stroker 347 shortblock for under 2000 from Fordstrokers.com, put on a pair of Canfield heads and a good cam from the custom grinder of your choice(I use Jay Allen) and your Mustang will reach your goals easily. There are some other things to consider though...

    What is This Wire For?

Looks just like the alternator feed on my 1988, as for the drain, start pulling things off the solenoid until your drain goes away, then trace the offending wire.... Matt
