    oh yea, i forgot that detail. the 289 is suppose to rev to 8-9k. makes most of its power in the 7k range though. or so i'm figuring. would the OEM pump still work in thuoghs rpm ranges? I'm not worryed about the oil change cost at all.

    well its from a 68 mustang, with a 390, so the hurst was an add on later. i guess it was a mod made by the PO. i kinda like it though, its real easy to put into reverse and i like not being able to accendently to put into reverse instead of 1st.

    weird, because it is a hurst shifter on it. (vintage might i add :)) and, whats happening is that when its in N, it can only go down. or it can go to the left; up and down. and right; up and down. i'll open up the cover tomorrow and take a look. what do you think?

    thanks D, and ratio. you guys have been helpful to the extream. i just have one last question.. what is the shift pattern for this? i see some that are like R on the far left top, and some R on the far left bottom. But mine seems to be R directly under N. whats the deal? thanks.

    i got all the codes and stuff that says its from a 68 mustang with a 390. i guess i will just have to replave the input shaft. no way around it. :( oh well. i was just saying that the 25 splines have had a history to break under major stress.
