1990 5.0 LX HOT inside of the car..normal?

I also just read in another thread that you have long-tubes and they were leaking....That could be a contributing factor. If I were you, I'd buy some exhaust wrap and wrap them up good. It'll keep your feet, your engine bay and your transmission cooler...

1990 5.0 LX HOT inside of the car..normal?

To check for the sound deadening insulation, just remove your door sill and lift the carpet a little. If it's not there, that could definitely be the problem. And check to see if the heat is coming out of your vents (just a black plastic box with an opening pointing at your feet. Even...

Question for all you fox guys.

The only problem now is that they're getting so old. It's hard to find one in good shape...and you'll have to do a lot of maintenance type work to make them really good, reliable cars. Replacing all the worn out, 20 year old parts, paint jobs, etc. - which can be annoying sometimes when you...

1990 5.0 LX HOT inside of the car..normal?

Are the vents open? Even if your control knob is in the off position, that doesn't mean your vents are necessarily closed. Has the sound-deadening/insulation material under the carpet been removed ? Does the car have catalytic converters? If they're clogged, they can get red hot...

    Shopping for a Intake Manifold

I assume you want to keep it carbureted? I just saw an ad recently for an "easy" efi conversion. If you wanted to do that, I'll look for the article. Don't really know much about Carburetor intakes...

Those of you who have hidden your wires

At first glance, I read "wires" as "wives".... Sorry I can't help you with the "wires" question.

    Post Custom Interior Pics

Unless your interior is in bad shape, I would strongly discourage painting anything. It almost always ends up looking worse and it's always obvious. Then when you want to sell your car, the next would-be owner might want to murder you. I'd say leave it as is or let professionals handle it...

    Are shorties worth it?

It depends on what else you've done to your car. I wouldn't suggest it as a first mod - they won't really make that much of a difference on their own (other than sound)...but if you also plan on doing the rest of your exhaust and a new intake manifold/throttle body/mass air meter, it will be...

how much should a stock rebuild really cost?

That's why, in the end, after you've figured in all the time and money - especially if you have to buy tools as well - the price of a brand new, professionally assembled shortblock looks a lot more reasonable...

    Focus st

    1. They don't "send" the good cars to Europe. European Fords are built in Europe. 2. Europeans are willing to pay the price for a compact sports car, because it is still far cheaper than buying a mid-size sports car. Americans wouldn't spend $30k for a compact when they could buy a...

Is self-adjusting tensioner important? Anyone use march alt bracket?

The long metal bar in the picture is the tensioner. You just have to tighten it by hand. No big deal. You just have to check the belt occassionally to make sure it doesn't get too loose.

    GT exhaust

Also - On a hatchback - having dumps can let exhaust fumes seep into your car through the rear shock mounts and other holes in the hatch area. (Think about it - fumes try to go up, and the dumps are right before the rear axle) So, if you do it - always keep your windows rolled down to...

Gauge placement? A-pillar or under radio??

I'm pretty sure they also make vent cages that hold three 2 1/16 guages. Did you look around latemodelresoration.com already?

Gauge placement? A-pillar or under radio??

Below the radio is ok and definitely the cleanest/least conspicuous (which is why I chose it), but the shifter can get in the way when you're in 1st and 3rd...plus it takes longer to check them. But do you really ever check your gauges while in 1st or 3rd? I normally only check them if I'm...

    Best car chase movie?

Coolest I'd say is Blues Brothers...but I just love that whole movie. Most exciting, I'd say Ronin.

Looking for a good mustang magazine

You surf the net while you're taking a ****? Gotta have something for the bathroom, man. I prefer "Modified Mustangs and Fords". They combined with another mag, and now they cover all fords classic to current. And I actually like looking at the advertisements. I even have a...
