    Help me plan my setup

Most of the 5 channel amps have a subwoofer level control. Also, a lot of your better head units have a subwoofer level control on the outputs.

    Help me plan my setup

I'll agree with the above poster ('cept for the wire quality statement, but to each his own). Also, I'll add some advice. Without extensive processing, you'll get your best sound from those tweeters by aiming them at the OPPOSIT passenger. Meaning, aim the passenger tweeter at the driver, and...

Where do you guys get your supplies for custom boxes?

First off, Reme is a complete moron who would be lucky to be allowed the "deck and 4" installs at a real shop. With that out of the way, you need foam. Are you just shaping/padding and MDF enclosure before doing leather or vinyl? If so check at www.soundprooffoam.com at their selection.

new amp, ony one channel working???

Swap the Left and Right inputs and see if the dead channel changes sides. That would indicate a bad patch cable- which is VERY common.

Loud pop sound when turn on

Yes, you need to install a voltage regulator on the remote turn-on line going to the amps. The factory Mach amps use a 5v trigger signal where aftermarket pieces use 12v. The part will reduce the voltage appropriately. It is Radio Shack part #7805 or 276-1770. It costs less than $2.

    Which amp won't overheat?

What kind of amp do you have, and what size power wire? How hot is it when the fuse goes? Can you hold your hand on it, or is it basically a George Foreman grill at that point? I don't suggest going the fan route, but if you do, run them off a relay and not off the remote from the head unit...

    Bought subs, which amp?

So, what does your "friend" stand to gain by convincing you that these amps are no good? I personally bought 4 of them. They're made OEM in the same factory as Avionixx, Tsunami, Elemental, etc. They'll put out rated power plus a bit more. What else do you want? Go ahead and search...

Sub cutting Out - Amp is HOT

Basically, that amp is getting hot because it is pretty much toast. Sony stopped making good car audio products roughly 10 years ago (a couple of good spots this year). Their amps are VERY unreliable, as you have seen. If you can replace it under warranty, do so. If not, look here- excellent...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

My 5 1/4's do NOT suck- but mine are Vifa's :D You won't be disappointed. The only reason I'm not using Dayton's in my car is because I'm finally using most of the stuff I already had laying here (Vifa, Vifa-made Soundstream, and some Orion XTR 8MB's I got new for $35)

Day 1 of custom stereo install underway... pics inside..

Sweet! I picked up a Reference Class A 10.0, but it may not even work (pretty rough, but refinishable), and a RUB1000-2 Rubicon. If the guts are good on them, I'll have the chassis' refinished in a charcoal powdercoat. Should be nice. I love your setup. I may glass the well in my '06 if the...

Day 1 of custom stereo install underway... pics inside..

Agree:nice: The only thing that would be better IMO would be some SS Reference 500's in chrome, or some Phoenix Gold MS275's. I loved those amps.

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

You won't have to worry. The Dayton drivers are built with home audio in their hearts. That means good sensitivity. You'll be fine, and your amps will be cooler also. That's a plus. You will NOT be disappointed in the drivers. Also, at the forum above, there's aguy that can get a discount...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

Dayton drivers are the "house" brand for PartsExpress. They're MUCH more well known in the DIY home audio, and they're quite well known in car audio recently, too. Go check out www.diymobileaudio.com to see some extensive hands-on with them, and other drivers to boot. The reason they aren't...

Is switching from 5 /14's to 6X8's easy?

I've put 8" drivers in a 2003. It can be done. The Dayton drivers that 05Torch mentioned are some fine drivers. Actually, put me on record as saying those are the finest drivers on the market for the money. They easily sound better than drivers that cost 4x as much. I'm looking at replacing...

Question about position of sub when mounted to box.

And then, you'll never hear it. I doubt that you'd ever be able to even measure it in a normal-sized ported enclosure (ultra-large SPL-only not included).

    Are speaker baffles worth it?

They can actually make the sound worse by essentially creating a leaky, unwanted enclosure. They're decent at keeping speakers dry in an environment in which it is needed, but I still cut the bottom (as mounted) out of them.

Adding a Sub to 2006 Stang

I have a couple of amps that will do a true 4000 watts. It isn't THAT far fetched. Of course, I'd never run my Mojos to an Alphasonik (aka Audiobahn) sub and expect more than 10 seconds from it.
