    Tape on car

Instead of a lighter compound, try a less-aggressive method (or two) first... in an inconspicuous area for testing purposes... I'd try a trim detailer like Back-to-Black that will help restore the life to the vinyl. Or if you have a synthetic cleaner wax such as FX SynWax or NXT, try that.

Roush SALEEN owners and Enthusiasts club?

Let me get my flame suit on... I've been a SOEC member since about 1996... The newsletters have been sporatic at times, but the editor's got some help for a change (including myself) and they're looking real good (thanks to a very talented buddy on the East Coast). SOEC membership gets...

    Whats a Good Chrome polish?

I'd recommend Mothers Chrome Polish -- it's very mild and gives a nice blue look to your chrome. As a bonus it provides protection to help keep them clean. You can also use it with a PowerBall, and it's also great for glass -- use a clean ball on your glass before doing the wheels. Tip: Dress...

    Detailing a hammered Black car??

If you look for a local detailer or paint finishing supply, you might be able to find pads... can't guarantee if you can get Lake Country (my source for info isn't sure where to find them in the OC, unfortunately). Even if you get S.M. Arnold, you should be ok. I know you can get Meguiar's...

    Detailing a hammered Black car??

So long as the "buffer" you have is a Porter-Cable 7424 or 7336 (random-orbitals) and not a rotary, your equipment and supplies looks pretty good. Don't forget to detail your trim before you clay. On neglected trime I like to let my Back-to-Black penetrate while I'm detailing... then when I'm...

    Roush California & front plates?

From the California DMV website: Front License Plate Bracket 11713.17. (a) Following the retail sale or lease of a motor vehicle for which the department issues two license plates, a dealer may not deliver the motor vehicle unless either of the following occurs: (1) The motor vehicle...

    Roush Who mods a Volvo?

There was an impressive display of modded Volvos in the Ford booth at SEMA 2006.

    Roush California & front plates?

I've been driving in So. Cal. for over 25 years and never got pulled over for no front plate... nor written-up... my "style" was to not have them... and the threat of a "fix it" ticket never slowed me down. However, I have been pulled over for lots of other things... most notably, expired...

    can I wax my wheels?

I prefer using Mothers Pure Carnauba paste wax on bare alloys and chrome (as well as plastic chrome). Like like Meg's #26, it's got no cleaners, but the paste is easier to use for me than the liquid (which Mothers also makes). I don't know about not holding up... wheels do get abused, but the...

    Stripping chrome

Your best bet is to take them to a chrome shop and have them acid dipped -- or whatever it is the recommend based on the alloy. A little Googling indicates sandblasting might work, but will leave you with a texture that you may not like. Good luck!

    Roush What Happened To XMP??????

Eric's in the process of re-locating and re-organizing... I'm sure there will be some sort of announcement soon... toward the first of the year. As for SEMA cars, he did have a 2005 Mustang in the Ford display last year at SEMA... that light blue one. But this year, he didn't do a SEMA...

    Window Cleaner

Mothers Glass Cleaner is also ammoinia-free, and safe for window tint. It's one of the best glass cleaners I've used -- easy, streak-free results. I usually use one damp cloth for "cleaning" and another cloth for drying using a light buffing action. Microfiber works okay with this, but I...

    WHERE TO FIND OEM PAINT

The Duplicolor paints at the auto stores are pretty good quality, and usually keep the last several years in stock. Pep Boys have ordered paints for me that were older. An alternative is a local auto paint supply that could possibly mix some up for you and provide you with an aerosol sprayer.

Want new polish for new car. Zaino?

If you want something simple and very easy to use, try Mothers Reflections Car Wax and follow with their Top Coat -- it goes on easy and comes off easy and the results are phenomenal. And even though it's new, I'd consider claying it first -- and at least dress the trim before using any wax...

    Waxes

Glazes usually don't offer any protection. Be sure to throw a coat of pure wax -- carnauba or synthetic.

    Roush 2001 Saleen SR??

It was the 1996 SEMA Show where the '97 Widebody SR made its debut... it was build on a white 1996 chassis, if I recall correctly. One thing to add to the confusion about the '97 Widebody being a street car (and probably subsequent Widebodys) was that in the March 1997 Super Ford Magazine, the...

    Roush 2001 Saleen SR??

The SR.... there were only 8 SRs made between 1999 and 2001. They wasn't much Mustang under the body panels, and really only shared the roofline and glass. Though it wasn't the first "WideBody" Saleen, it shared the nickname. Though conflicting reading indicates there were possibly some built...

    paint imperfections

For the side molding, Pep Boys and other many other auto parts stores sell a 3M trim tape in the auto body section... it's a gray/black color and it comes in a couple widths for body molding... it's designed for automotive use. For scratch removing, I'm not familiar with Scratch-X or Nu...
