    Aftermarket intakes usually use a larger hole than the factory ones. National Parts Depot makes a factory style fitting to fit the larger aftermarket hole.

    Another thing about E7s, regardless of your opinion of them: They have no resale value. If you spend a grand on em, it's down a hole. I put some Performers RPMs on my car, knowing full well that if I upgrade later, I could get 75% of the money back for em on ebay. Stock heads go for dirt.

    All this work you are describing on the E7s will cost you near $1000 bucks unless you have a buddy in the business. Get budget aftermarket, bolt em on and go. E7s are doorstops.

    I thought the 250 and the 200 were the same basic block? Anyway, the key to making the small block 6 come alive if the intake and what you can do to it. The cast in log style integral intake is really restrictive.

    I would upgrade to some mild aftermarket heads. Factory 289 heads are garbage, and that will really waker the motor up with the headers and new intake. I would also consider an upgraded cam. You can do a lot better than factory, even with an RV grind.

    Never heard of a shop doing it, but I have seen a lot of owners that don't understand it bypass it. They don't understand that the curve and base timing levels are all designed around the advance.

    Agree with this up until the AFR 185 part. 165s would be more than enough, and given the prices of AFRs, I am not sure I would recommend them for this application. Performers or the smaller valve performer RPms would work great for reasonable money, so would World Products.

    I wouldn't waste a penny on those cast heads. Yes, as stated, the 400hp is optimistic, but the dawn of aftermarket heads are when small block Fords started making real power.

    Someone used it to block vacuum for some reason, whether they re-curved the dizzy so that they didn't want vacuum advance, or to block it while setting the timing or something. Regardless, it's not supposed to be there. Never under-estimate the levels of stupidity that previous owners are...

    Number of leafs isn't as important as the spring rate. Hell, even Chevys used a mono leaf on many applications. Since you suggested that your springs are worn out anyway, Start with that and don't worry about the quarter lip until you have solid springs in there. Sounds like you need em anyway...
