The turboed 67 has been dynoed

There are now chassis dynos that allow you to remove the rear wheel and bolt directly up to the axle. No slippage at all.

    Probably a Dumb Question

I wasn't thinking cost, I was thinking that in many Ford applications, the head wont come off because it will hit the shock tower before clearing the studs. I would put new head bolts on every rebuild. While I have gotten away with re-using them, I think head torque needs to mo more accurate...

    Probably a Dumb Question

Studs don't work so well on many cars with shock towers.

Safe way to remove harmonic balancer - '67 6 cyl.

No, it is not true unless your torque converter has locked up. Park locks the drivetrain, not the engine.

    What does IIRC mean

Yeah, I googled it too! It;s always used when something has been posted before. They either post "repost" or IBVM.

    What does IIRC mean

There is also FTL. IBVM has me baffled from the younger Mustang forums....

    $$ Questions on my engine

Unfortunately, you may lose money on the engine regardless. It is really difficult to get a premium or even what you have invested for a used engine. And sometimes hearing it running doesn't prove that it was put together with longevity in mind. It could be .060 over, it could be sleeved, it...

    $$ Questions on my engine

I'll be blunt, please don't take it personally: 1. "In" the car doesn't mean as much if , as you say, the thing doesn't have a good tune on it. 180hp to the rears is not very impressive in or out of the car. 2. You are affording a 427 in a 65 fastback, and you spent the last year buying and...

Safe way to remove harmonic balancer - '67 6 cyl.

Not a fan of using the starter. Stuff can fly apart. I pull a spark plug and stuff a section of old fan belt or rope into the cylinder. Rotate the engine by hand using he socket of the crank bolt, and the engine will lock up for you. The bolt should crack loose with the engine locked up.

    Ignition Timing with RPM cam

Well, one frame of mind is that you can run whatever provides the most power without detonation, starting or overheating issues. Seems like you may have found that. Caveat: Probably you shouldn't run manifold vacuum to the vacuum advance. With performance cams, quite often when you put it in...

    northern aluminum radiator

I have a hard time believeing the radiator can pre-warm the tranny fluid. Remember, radiators don't gradually warm up with the engine. They are at ambient temp until the stat opens, then they are considerably warmer right away. Since it would take, theoratically, 3-5 minutes before the stat...

    1" or 1 1/8" sway bar?

The need for a rear bar depends entirely on your rear spring rate. I have big block mid-eye leafs in the rear, and with the 620lb springs and 1 1/8" bar in front, it feels pretty nuetral. I never bothered to install the rear bar because I didn't want to drill a perfect frame rail, it would...

    1" or 1 1/8" sway bar?

I have the big bar and it is fine for the street. Can't compare, cause I never had the smaller bar.

    Newbe

Well, of course you are going to have to ditch the flywheel and get a flexplate. If you bring your old flywheel and your new flexplate into a competant machine shop, they can match it up for you. FMX stock rebuild kits are available, and you can get a shift kit from B&M or Trans-go. Stall...

Call to Fabricators, clutch pedal 68 69

NPD "offers" kits using the existing pedal, so if they are better or worse than an aftermarket design, it does not matter. They dont manufacture the parts, so their risk is limited. They are not selling you a pedal, so they are off the hook for that as well. Of course, other components may...

Call to Fabricators, clutch pedal 68 69

Who are you referring to when you say "their"? If you mean NPD, they were just passing along what mfg's were telling them. Nobody is obligated to make you a pedal, much less for under $100, just because you really really want one. Liability issues are real, and while many ignore them and go...
