Stock 89 Auto wont burn out is that normal?

My wife's 89 lx w/aod is bone stock down to the airbox and it can do burnouts no problem (my wife gets pretty pissed when I do it :D) I dunno what gear it has though. From a red light I can stand on it and it will lay rubber through the intersection. Maybe I have a factory freak?

    1985-1986 Mustang NOTCHBACK! HELP

I paid $400 for my 86 and it was pretty much like the one you're talking about. It was a four banger w/carb troubles a few years ago & had been sitting ever since. I bought it, took it home and promptly gutted it. I'm getting the drivetrain done before I worry about paint, so far I've built...

    Do i have to?

I'd go the distance for a good dyno/tuner before I put a carb on it.

88 crown vic 5.0/auto good donor?

I was going to suggest the Exploder engine as well, but I thought getting everything needed from one donor car would be easier. If you could score the necessary goodies the Explorer is a good choice. Also the Lincoln Mk VII is a 5.0 HO but I'm not sure if they are mass air or not. Also with...

88 crown vic 5.0/auto good donor?

Personally I wouldn't mess with it, Crown Vic and T-bird engines were non HO. I'd look for a wrecked Mustang to raid the engine/trans/harness from.

    Got IRS??

Thanks! I'm kind of on a budget yet I'm stubborn and want it to look a certain way, so things are kind of slow sometimes.

    Got IRS??

I paid $450 for my IRS, I see them going usually for more than that. As for the vertical bolts, I cut holes in the floor to gain access to the inside of the frame rail and ran short bolts. Carpet covers them up just fine. The Lincoln rear is the same as Cougars / T-birds, not like Cobras.

    Got IRS??

I put an '03 IRS in my '86 coupe because it was a 4 banger and I needed to ditch the 7.5, and I got a good deal on it. It didn't have brakes on it & I had some Wilwoods that were given to me, so I decided to put them to good use. I made brackets at work, I had to relocate the caliper to the...

Source for "lip" spoiler for a notch?

I don't have a clue! I'll take a shot at making one and we'll see how it turns out. It would be made out of aluminum though.

Source for "lip" spoiler for a notch?

I work at a fab & machine shop and have kicked around trying to make one of these. We make mostly aerospace stuff, but I've made stuff for myself on my own time (they don't mind). One way to make it is to make a set of dies & stamp them out where they are ready to go, or another is to make two...

Source for "lip" spoiler for a notch?

If you look closely at the first pic you can see that it's just one piece bent at an angle (could be two pieces welded together, not sure). You can see the hole around the trunk lock and the rivets/screws holding it on to the edge of the trunk lid. That's the only thing I don't like about it...

Source for "lip" spoiler for a notch?

That's the only pic I have, I saved it from the Corral. The owner goes by Brutal04 there. He's posted other pics there in different posts. The spoiler was discontinued a while ago, and I've heard they didn't make very many when they were selling them. They may be pretty hard to find.

Source for "lip" spoiler for a notch?

Good luck with that, I've always wanted something like that as well. People suggest the asc spoiler to me but I can't stand that thing. I've also thought about modding a Monte spoiler, or trying to copy this Griggs spoiler that they made for a short time (only I don't like how it's mounted to...

I wanna say it was owned by a guy that worked for APC, which would explain alot. I remember it being in the magazine, it was one of the reasons I let my subscription run out.

Rear Seat Delete help - 93 Fox 5.0 (GT)

I made mine out of .015" aluminum sheet that I pop riveted & siliconed in place (the silicone was so it wouldn't rattle). I made templates out of cardboard to make sure it would fit around all the wierd bumps in the rear seat floor area then cut it out. It will have carpet over it because it...

IRS rear swap in a fox?

I did the swap myself in my garage. It didn't take any trick tools or anything. The most "complicated" part was cutting the bumpstop brackets out and drilling the rear frame rail area for the additional holes needed for the IRS cradle mounts. The mouthbreather site is pretty informative, but...

I have one in my '86 coupe but it's not running yet, so I couldn't tell you how it rides.:D

    pic whoring my '86 coupe

Yeah I know they make kits, but I got the calipers for free. They were for a 1.25" thick rotor so I used a c5 vette rotor that I redrilled (this was before I knew about pad shims, lol). They don't make a kit for an IRS though (but Brembo does.) I haven't selected a pad yet, the brakes aren't...
