    Is this too much head???

Those flow numbers are around .700-.800 lift. With the right cam and compression should be a decent power plant. but with the same cam you would have way more power with a ported high port head.

    Those that installed gears??

I just swap 4.10 in a 03 and the stock pinion shim was a .030 and the new pinion needed a .035, that was with reusing the stock bearings. Dont use this as a guide cause every gear Ive changed has had a differnt shim, only a few have used the same shim setup. I always check using the ford tool...

    Titanium

Go with oliver, the best rod money can buy and crower for the crank. And valves should be matched to whatever head you use, maybe stainless or titainium.

    Titanium

Titanium rods work great in an nhra super stock engine. They would fail in an street drive vehicle, same with any titanium engine part. Yes strong and light but not the greatest durability.

    How Streetable?

Good answers. Stay with the 4.30's and go with a 28x11.50 et'street. Tranction is gonna be a problem with any gear ratio at that power level. Why comprimise 400+rwhp with tall gears and street tires. Youw would have great drivability with a blower, cams and 4.10-4.30's only after a dyno tune.

    redline limits?

stock rods with 5/16 arp 2000 bolt and a stock crank I say is good for 8500. Thats because ive been there and done that with three differnt 289's. The only rod failure was because of a broken arp 8740 rod bolt that was incorectly torqued.

    289 or 302 ?

If the crank is stamped 1M then 289, 2M is a 302. C3 rods are 289 rods, c8 rods for the 302. could be either if it was rebuilt. could even have a 289 crank with 302 rods. just look for the stamp on the first crank counter weight.

    Aerostar Driveshaft??

that sounds like a bad idea. aerostars had some problems with the aluminum shafts twisting and making a crunch noise.

    289 rebuild

I second the 650dp for any 289, high or low rpm. Try not to go to big on the heads, tfs high ports, victor Jr's, afr 185 are a bit to big while ported stock heads can hold back the power band. afr 165,bodix 5.0,roush 180's would be a good choice for a 289 out the box. go for sure with a soild...

    Superior 31-Spline Axles

Maybe I should have just said forged axles are worth the money. But seeing your power level you should be just fine with stock 31 spline axles or any of the aftermarket steel axles. steel axles handle the flex much better than forged axles over a longer period of time.

    what headers are you ?

I just had my hands on a cobra 6peed today and didnt notice it to be much if any wider than a five speed or four gear, just maybe longer in size.

How strong are 28 spline 9 inch rears?

the weak point would be the diff gears first and then the axles. Good time to upgrade to a four pinnion diff with 31 spline axles.
