    Failed California Smog!!

We have pretty much the same emission standards here in the Denver area as you describe for Cali and Canada. I have heard that high-flow cats will probably fail the tailpipe test and will surely fail the visual one. The good news is that they are experimenting with a new test that uses a mobile...

    Air Compreesor Question

For sure get lots of CFM. I used a small compressor to blast some smaller parts, even then spent way too much time standing around waiting for the tank to recharge. Wish I had not bought that thing. Have fun blasting-makes an incredible mess!

Check this video out ....omg challenger = boat hahah

Better get yours soon-I don't expect Chrysler to be in buisiness much longer. I saw that same magazine test and I must agree the Mustang spanked the Challenger. I must admit though that car looks good.

    LOW FUEL PRESSURE 2000 GT

Check for air leaks. Unmetered air getting into the motor can mimic IAC trouble. The engine contol computer seems to compensate for this while driving but has trouble at idle. My car had the same symptoms as yours and it turned out a vacuum hose under the hood somehow came loose on its own. I...

Can an old battery affect how my car runs?

Glad the new battery helped! These things usually die at the worst time and place possible.

To inject, or not to inject.. that is the question...

EFI saves much engine wear. Most cylinder wear happens when you first start the car and the choke is on. Excess fuel washes down the protective oil film in the cylinders. EFI engines often still have fresh cylinder bores after 100,000 miles. That's a real plus if you drive it a lot.

97 GT Needs New Engine...Build Up Advice

Stroke it to 5.0L and port the heads for maximum N/A power. But you would still get more bang for your bucks with a blower.

    Aftermarket Intake

The Bullitt intake would require an oval Cobra-style throttle body, another added expense. Fox Lake will hook up to a stock GT elbow & throttle body, or the aftermarket equivalent you probably have.

First oil change, what to use?

Mobile 1, Motorcraft filter, use the money you save over exotic oil to change oil more often. I've had no leaks or oil useage in my 2000GT with this, these engines have very good seals and tight tolerances.

    # of flywheel bolts for a 2000 GT

Some have Windsor 8-bolt, some have Romeo engine with 6-bolt. Write down your engine numbers and your Ford Dealer can tell you which you have.

how strong of an air compressor?

You need plenty of CFM or you will be standing around waiting for the compressor tank to refill between lug nuts. Check with the mfr of your air wrench for requirements. Otherwise just about any air compressor will provide enough pressure to break loose a few individual bolts.

    02 GT emissions sniffer fail

Glad you passed, sounds like it was a real hassle. I wish some of the magazines that test these parts would run an emissions test with them on a Mustang with the stock engine computer and/or custom tune on stock computer. Hope your future tests go better!

    02 GT emissions sniffer fail

Let us know how it works out. I would like the same cams but also live in an area with the "roller" emissions test. We might switch over to the drive by vans (there are a couple now) but once these guys get their little kingdom built it is really hard to kick them out. Good luck!
