    99 GT will not idle

I personally would NOT put money on the IAC at this point in the diagnosis. The problem you describe WREAKS of a vacuum leak. There are some vacuum leaks that do not appear as vacuum leaks such as a leaky EGR valve. Pull the code, write it down, post it here and in the mean time, connect a...

    got my tire plugged

I have been plugging tires with a product called "Safety Seal" for the last 30 years. They use no glue, but they are made of a material that bonds to the tire. Out of probably a couple of hundred Safety Seals that I've used, I've run across two or three situations where the tire had to be...

    Spark Plugs

I have replaced ZILLIONS of mod motor plugs with no problems. Here is my procedure: Blow out the plug well with compressed air BEFORE removing the plug. Use the exact Motorcraft platinum specified for your particular motor. Use a VERY THIN coat of COPPER BASED anti-sieze ON THE THREAD...

    Battery Dead...Dont know why...

You will need to remove one of the battery cables with everything turned off and using an ammeter in series with the battery cable and the battery post measure the current draw. If it is anything over about 100 milliAmps then you have a low current short in the system and need to find it...

Okay, WHAT could be rattling under my car?

You will not find the answer to this question on an enthusiast forum. The ONLY way to find the source of the rattle is to safely raise the car and get underneath. You will then have to pry, prod, push, pull and bang on everything in that area until you find it. There is no shortcut here...

    Loss of low end torque?

DUH! Yes, any time HP is going up and low end torque is going down, then yes, the torque peak is being moved to a higher RPM band. I personally would be perfectly happy with more mid range torque and less maximum horsepower. Horsepower is a mathematical calculation while torque is something...

    Loss of low end torque?

These cars are almost completely devoid of low end torque to begin with. My 85 Mustang GT with 210 horsepower would lose BIG in a race with my 06, but it was MUCH more fun to drive because it had GOBS of low end torque. I agree, the gears can bring some of this fun back. I will be putting...

    5 speed rpms at 70 with 373 and 355s

    This is a very simple calculation. Start by determining tire rolling diameter. Example 235 50 18 tire. 23.5CM / 2.54 = 9.25 X .5 = 4.125 X 2 = 9.25 + 18 = 27.25 Diameter 27.25 X Pi = 85.6" / 12 = 7.13 5280 / 7.13 = 740 tire revolutions per mile 740 X 3.55 = 2627 engine...

    2000GT Stock gears

It is very simple to check to see what gear ratio is in YOUR car. There is a tag on the rear axle cover. It is located at the upper passenger side of the axle cover and will say 3L327 if it is 3.27 gears.

    Help with 4:10 gears

There is some good information in this thread, but no one mentioned how important it is to check the pattern. NEVER R&R a carrier without checking the backlash and the pattern. If you don't know what the pattern is supposed to look like you can find a pattern chart in most any repair manual.

5W30 is fine unless you drive at the North Pole.

Reasons for coolant to be in spark plug well.

Look around the engine compartment CLOSELY to see if there is a leaking heater hose or something. On trucks, this happens sometimes because there is a heater hose directly above one of the rear spark plugs. When the hose leaks it fills the spark plug well and eventually takes out a COP or a coil.

    how to recover r134a???

Yes, there are plenty of portable recovery units around. Just call some of your local shops. I am 609 certified myself, and I can guarantee you that if you release it, you DO NOT want to get caught doing it. It's just not worth the risk. I have two recycling machines for just that reason...

How to get to 400+ NA??

At 304 cubic inches you are talking about 1.314 HP per cubic inch. There is only one way to do that, and that would be to cam it, port it and open up the intake and exhaust tract such that you can raise the torque peak to a higher RPM. Since the torque peak is already at a relatively high RPM...

    how to recover r134a???

It's not just a matter of having a recovery tank. It requires that you evacuate the system and this is part of the process of recovering the refrigerant. This is typically done with a recovery/recycle machine. If you wish to recover the refrigerant, there are surely many shops in your area...

    Axle Codes For '05-'07 GT's

If it is an 07 and it does not have an extra $100 for the 3.55 Limited Slip axle, then it is a 3.31. The other way to confirm this is to crawl underneath the back and look at the tag that is on a rear axle cover bolt at the upper drivers side. If it says 3L31 it is a 3.31. If it says 3L55...

Yes, exploratory surgery is the only step to take next.

A little problem in the rear.

Well, you will have some slack when turning the pinion and that is normal. Did you check your u-joints and all mountings including the rear axle? You do not have to remove the carrier to change the pinion bearing, but don't get the cart in front of the horse. After checking EVERYTHING...

Have you guys ever heard of a spark plug being blown out of a head?

No anti sieze will work okay as long as the plugs don't stay in the engine too long. Don't leave them in there longer than 50,000 miles if put up dry. It's best not to leave them in there over 50,000 miles REGARDLESS. If you can't afford new plugs, remove them, gap them and replace them. The...

Assistance in Switching to 4.10 FRPP gears

Using FRPP gears and using the original shims in the original locations will PROBABLY set it up right, but don't even DREAM of putting it back together without not only checking the pattern as mentioned above, but it is equally important that you check the backlash. Backlash and pattern...
