    vacuum at idle question

my stock motor was at about 15 with a HUGE Vac leak (blown lower intake manifold gasket). so i would think 9-10 is pretty low. i have thought about putting in a vac gauge in my car, as i am gonna put in one of those radio panel gauge pods and it has 3 gauge holes. so i'm thinking oil...

why is my car so slow

frying the tires in 4 out of 5 gears? that sounds a little exaggerative to me. i mean, my Mustang HAULS for what it has...and it will only get rubber in 1st through 3rd...and 3rd is more of a "chirp" than a straight up SPIN. Josh

    Fox bodies vs. 94-95 5.0s

i have always been told (and seen) that the 94-95 SN95s were pretty slow compared to the Fox Bodies, because of the weight difference...i don't have any literature on the SN95's but i'm sure someone here does... Josh

hey 92...you have "mass air system" as a future mod? if your car is a '92, it has a mass air system already. you should have a mass air sensor in your air intake tract... Josh

setting my timing for the first time - tips, advice?

well, going by your user name, i'm gonna take a WAG and say you have a '90 LX with a 5.0. if that is so, press 1...just kidding. usually between 10-14 is a good base timing setting...you might have to change it a few times just to experiment and get the best performance Josh

AN IDEA! is it crazy, stupid, pointless, or..?

well, sometimes you just have to learn by doing it. your father i'm sure went through the same "growing pains", and while he might be trying to "save you some face", you just have to figure out some things by yourself. you'll get your experience in...with a bunch of knowledgable people like...

    Guage Lights Out???

on my '88 GT, i just wiggled fuse 13 and that did it. turned out the fuseholder (the terminal on the end of the wire that sits in the fusebox) was loose...i just have to have the fuse pulled halfway out and the lights work just fine... Josh

    What is this?

that other thing is the "spout connector", you would pull out that piece when you want to isolate the distributor from the computer so you can set the base timing... Josh

WHAT THE HECK controls the idle in these things?

no, can't get the car to idle right AT ALL. i suspected vac leaks myself, and used my last bit of starting fluid to check for leaks, might have to again, as i didn't find any before. so, internal leaks? where would they be coming from? pardon my ignorance, just not sure what ya mean... Josh
