    Speedometer Issue

He does not need the gear reduction. That is for when the speedo reads HIGHER than actual speed. He needs fewer teeth on his speedo gear to "speed up" the speedo. That being said, I have never heard of a speedo reading that low (almost 50% low). If you currently have a 20 tooth gear then...

New Front Disks (stock replacement) for 69 mach 1

I started with nothing. I bought a set of 68 spindles because mine is a 68 and I wanted to keep it original. It would have been much easier to buy 70 spindles. Then I got a set of cad plated slotted rotors because I thought they would resist rust better. Parts store calipers with the...

    Timing Question

Usually non-stock cams like more initial and a faster timing curve. Total timing depends on the quality of the gas and the engine - if it pings you have too much.

    Some line routing questions

On my 68 vert the emergency brake cable comes out of the firewall behind the steering box and down the inside of the frame rail. I don't know where that picture came from but it is not correct.

    Front suspension rebuild

It is not worthwhile to rebuild the LCAs. The UCAs can cause problems because they can be cracked or the threads for the large shaft nuts stripped. It either case it is a lot of effor. IMO the best thing to do is to buy quality LCAs and UCAs (such as Moog) and be done with it.

    Compression problems, please help

Is the valve lash on those cylinders too tight? If so the valves are staying open all the time resulting in no compression. Or you could have REALLY burnt valves.

1968 coupe fuel sending unit wiring

On my 68 it is part of the harness that travels down the passenger side of the car (under the scuff panels). I could not find this harness repopped. I had mine restored.

    oil pan Q&A

Gaskets - get the one piece gasket that Felpro sells. $50 but well worth it. Don't need any sealant except at the corners. Has inserts in the bolt holes so you cannot overtighten it. And it is reusable if you have to drop the pan again.

Does this sound like a good combo?

I've got a 347 with Dart Pro 1 heads, etc. 750 Edelbrock carb. T5 with 3.89 rear gears. First cam was a solid roller. 240/246, 108 LSA .570 lift. It was awful on the street. Would not idle below 1000 rpm, did not smooth out until 2000 rpm, didn't make any power below 3000 rpm. I hated...

    ... '65 Mustang V8 Front Shock Absorbers ? ...

The KYB GR2s are a good cruising shock and they are very inexpensive. You can get a full set on Ebay for $90. I had Gas-a-justs on my 73 vert and replaced the rear ones with GR2s because they rode too harshly.

If you can only have one car then have a convertible. IMO it is better to have a vert cruiser as opposed to a hardtop muscle car.

    Rebuild or not....

99.9% of the time you will not get back 100% of the money you put into it. So sell it as is. Unless you can get it running you will get more money for it taking the heads off of it so the buyer can see what they are getting. Most people will not pay top dollar for a non-running motor...

    67 horn ring question

Make sure the battery is disconnected when you install it. And when you reattach the battery cable just touch it to the battery post first. There should be no spark. If so you have a short.

    Aluminum radiator advice

Do you have to have aluminum? The 3-row replacements work very well. I have one in my 67 GT350 (347 stroker) with the factory shroud and the temp gauge never moves - not even in Houston summers.
