    Yes, earlier clsoing intake will make more torque sooner and less overlap will make more power up high. These should equate to more power over a wider rpm range (area under curve).     For your parts the 112LSA has less emphasis on the exhaust, which the 165s don't need. It also closes intake earlier and opens exhaust later giving less overlap but still enough to keep idle issues from happening & making more power.

    Overlap causes emissions and lumping. Does your X pipe have cats, if not good luck. If so any cam that has either 0 or negative overlap should pass. Some examples are Crane 2030, 2031, Crower 15510, Comp XE258, 266, 270.

    Heads and intake are a mismatch plus heads are killing you! 8.5:1cr isn't helping much either. "Comp Cams .509/.512 268/280 dur. " This doesn't really tell all that much, is the duration listed at 0.05" or seat, what's the LSA and ICL, hyd roller, solid, hyd flat?
