    I had a similar problem on one of my cars. It ended up being a defective strut which was't bolted on tightly.

    I think that the "W" stands for "WINDSOR". Some of the 4.6 Modular engines that were made for the Mustang GT were built in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

    Problem with 02 gt

    I had a whistling sound coming from the back of my car too. It went away though. I think it was the gears in the rear axle.
