    2009 Mustang

Remember the SVO? It's ok, not many do. :D Turbo 4 cylinder mustang that was quick. A TTV6 could be made into a driver's car if they wanted to. The powerforce (iirc) engine they showed in a lincoln concept was 400 hp. I'd bet it would get equal mpg to the current v8 (good for CAFE...

CAI and tune, gains really from the tune?

Baloney. That's a lie. you did un-scientific 'testing' and are using it to bash a much more accurate & repeatable test setup. Next time, don't let up on the stock runs before the finish line & maybe I'll believe you. You didn't let up? Prove it; put the video of every run up online along...

3K and feels like a different car??

The CMCV's opening up at 3000 rpm isn't the VCT system. The VCT isn't open/closed like Honda VTEC (although they've added variable timing in the latter systems). Tom

Mustang GT vs. 350z - Not one of those posts, I promise.

The 4.0l in the mustang is an old 2V engine; The new Duratec 4V 3.5l V6 is rated 263 hp on regular gas. Certainly not a screamer, but 75hp/l. That 330hp Nissan engine is rated 270 ft-lbs, and Ford's Duratec is 250 ft-lbs. :) The ultimate ends of this debate are the Honda 2.2l producing 240...

Mustang GT vs. 350z - Not one of those posts, I promise.

Well, they both get ~300 hp, and both have/offer a 3.55 rear end (3.54 for Nissan), the Mustang has 320 Ft-lbs to the Z's 270 Ft/lbs. The Nissan also requires Premium. 50 Ft-lbs of torque is pretty significant; the trade off is that the Nissan gets 2 mpg better mileage, along with its six...

    BMR Fabrication

I have their adjustable panhard bar and like it. There's a thread on the modular forum about cracking in the lower control arm. Besides the control arms they look pretty good. Tom

    Would you trade-in for a C5 Corvette?

I'd argue that the better mileage is due to the 0.50 6th gear, and low drag corvette body. :) I've had friends get 30 mpg cruising at 75 in thier vettes. Either way, I would seriously consider a vette, and the CTS-V if I wanted more seats. Tom

    Trouble with stock shifter?

If you're reasonably satisified with the stocker, try the shifter bushings first. The bushings that come with the car are great for Noise reduction, but let the shifter wobble all over the place and give very vague shift feel. Tom

Does full synth oils = more RWHP

In the 10w-30 & 5w-30 range that engines used to run, the difference was more pronounced. With the 5w-20 that Ford is using now the horsepower differences are minimal. I'd bet less than 1%, or 3hp. The 5w-20 was really designed for low friction operation. Tom

    22MPG?

My gage cluster is within 0.5 mpg on a tankfull. Over a ten mile stretch, I was able to maintain 28 mpg going 50-55 mph. I've done some longer stretches at 26+, again below 60 mph. The aero drag seems to become significant around 60 mph. mhanksii, what tire pressures are you running? That...

    Mud flaps

Those supposedly have a different contour than the GT, on the rear facia. The California Special supposedly fits the GT500 splashguards. Tom

I added clear bra stuff to the headlights & fogs so they won't fog up over time. you may want to do clear bra on the bumper cover. Tom

    doesn't this rattle your cage...

You know, that's really annoying. Right beside/behinds sounds like it is often in my blind spot, where I can't see you in my mirrors. Or I'd really like to move over, but you're there. Either way it's still annoying. If I'm following someone I leave 3-4 seconds gap, so if they get hit with...

If not a Mustang, then what?

When I was shopping for the Mustang, my other car I was considering was a 2007 WRX wagon. Little bigger than the sedan I had, 2.5l vs 2.0l engine, turboback exhaust, bigger turbo & tuning would get 300 whp. Tom

    Yet another Tire question

I currently have the Ecsta SPT's in 235/50R18 and like them. On the mustang, I only have the stock pirelli's to compare to. They are quiet, ride nice & handle very well. On my WRX I run Eagle F1 DS-G3's. The F1's definitely have a softer sidewall that some of the other Summer tires, but...

Got to the Strip with my GT (First Time)

Yup, manual with intake & canned tune. I definitely wasn't shifting too hard. The AWD definitely helps on the launch; he was running 1.7 60 ft times. That & the gearing were the biggest advantages. Tom

Got to the Strip with my GT (First Time)

Ran 13.9 @ 103. That's all I was shooting for; under 14's :rlaugh: I think with a couple more passes I had at least a 13.7 in there. It was my first time with rear wheel drive. I had too much air in the tires (30+psi), didn't get the launch down (2.16 60ft) and was probably soft on the...
