    Suspension gurus, few questions

I only have a few years racing experience, but in those few years... I've gleaned some knowledge. When it comes to setting up a car, it's the whole package, not just a single part. My questions are solely so I don't assume too much about what you have and what you're trying to accomplish. I...

    Suspension gurus, few questions

Are you installing the panhard neutral at ride height? How much do you expect your rear to squat? I assume you're on street tires, not even street drag tires. It won't matter then.

    Suspension gurus, few questions

I assume right now you have the factory 4-link? If you convert to a 3-link (lowers + upper torque link) you'll need a device to maintain the rearend "center" position. This is the panhard bar's function and it's significant other, the watts link. If you're not going to road race or even...

    Suspension gurus, few questions

Post up your time slip or detail your race weight and mph @ 1320'. Your incrementals are important here, so your time slip is needed. What is the reason you can't install the panhard bar and torque arm at the same time?

do I need new push rods?

The most accurate method to answer your question and KNOW for yourself is to install one set and hand crank the engine while watching your rocker tip to valve stem pattern. You can also see right away if you have any gross misalignment with the cam lob at half it's lift/travel and see if your...

    Affirmative, I agree.

    Sticky stuff in connecter

You cannot be "selective" in trying to prove your incorrectness. Here's the rest of the story; While the indicated use of dielectric grease calls for it to be used only on the non-metal parts of a connection, it has been shown to be effective at preventing corrosion when applied directly to...

    Harmonic balancer...

I like using Romac, I have a BHJ I'm going to use now, never tried a Pioneer. The Romac and BHJ units have small diameters if that's a consideration...

    Sticky stuff in connecter

Why replace a sending unit that isn't broke or "working fine"? Although new electronic parts do have a "bad actor" every now and again, in my experience, the issues/malfunctions occur due to the "installer" or method/procedure the part was installed. I've never had an issue with LRS unit...

Is my 347 cranking cylinder pressure too high

I suggest you check your lifter pre-load. You may find you don't have any. A loose rocker will not open on time and close too soon... thus increasing your cranking compression.

Is my 347 cranking cylinder pressure too high

For the issue you have, all the above information doesn't really apply. I would not suggest you go with a tighter ring gap than the manufacturer suggests. Chances are you have too much lash in your valvetrain and even a camshaft installed a few points retarded. You probablly should...

Is my 347 cranking cylinder pressure too high

It's possible your valvetrain is too loose. What have you done on the top-end? Installing the camshaft retarded will give the same results. Who built the engine?

    Aftermarket Heads For Newbs!!

If you're going to buy a "stock" style head, I suggest you get the aluminum set (gt40x). Just dropping the weight is worth the price you pay, and gaining some extra power is icing.

    Double Sump Question

Off the top of my head; 1. your oil is dirty from the get go 2. If you just blindly put 5qts in, you promote excessive oil slinging, windage, lose some power.

It's dielectric grease to help keep moisture out and maintain a good circuit. You can buy it at most automotive and hardware stores.

    pinion head thickness

That's a bummer. Just another reason not to use Ford Racing Parts. I assume you measured your original pinion depth before removing it, knowing Ford Racing doesn't etch their suggested pinion depth? You could check your method this way?

    pinion head thickness

Did you measure the thickness/differences of the ring gears? The depth you want is calculated by the etched dimension on the pinion itself. The diameter of the pinion is determined by the ratio. It does have an impact on height. Different manufactures sometimes have different pinion depths.

how good is this short block (link inside)

It's not the cubic inches that affect emissions. it's; Camshaft and tune. Assuming cats, O2 and EGR in good working order or not required.

how good is this short block (link inside)

Another point. The average enthusiast does not need a forged crank. Scat steel cranks are known to hold 7000rpm blasts at 450 to the ground. Probe/Scat lightweight I beam rods are a good mate for the steel crank, and get the lightweight forged pistons to help offset some of the weight. A...

how good is this short block (link inside)

You're comparing a 302ci sbf to forged stroker setups? :nono: Here's my spin on the "value" of spending money on an engine; The power and torque potential of a stroker engine far, far outshines the extra cost you spend over a stock displacement engine. If you were to compare cost for cost...
