From what I have been reading 0ver the past 1.5 years, there are decent gains to be had with an aftermarket CAI with a tuner. The aftermarket CAIs incorporate the MAS within and typically make it much larger than the factory so that combined with the tune to take advantage of the extra air lends...
Whoa...I had no idea that Laguna Seca had changed. Thanks for the info. Makes it tough for the comparison I was shooting for then.
P.S. - nice shot of your car running!
1970: Parnelli Jones won and qualified with a lap time of 1:11.90
2012: 1:39.5
Just more proof of how different a true race car is compared to a street car (no matter how good it performs).
Ah, yes...the old "wadding panties" issue...happens to the best of us (plenty of times for myself as well).
You bring up an interesting query - what times did the full-race trans am cars run at Laguna Seca and how does that compare to the new street car Boss 302. Gotta do some digging.
Maybe mildly...but I see it more as a play on words (since they are comparing to the classic Boss 302). I see it as a V6 owner who is proud of how the performance of his new V6 rivals that of the legendary Boss 302. Let him be proud and happy - he has a great car. That being said, it will never...
I don't know...I don't see anything wrong with the article. My impression was that he is simply showing how much technology has advanced in 40(+) years putting the performance of a modern "regular" Mustang on par with the cream of the crop from back in the day...even if you assume quarter mile...
2011 Mustang GT Premium (401A), 6M, Brembo Package, 3.73's, Comfort Package, HID's/Security, Back-up Camera. I believe it listed for $38,500. I got it for $32,700 with X-plan plus incentives and discount coupon.
That would be a matter of preference. If you really like the new style on the 2013, wait for those. I believe there is a modest power bump as well (I think that is the only performance difference). If you are indifferent, definitely get a great deal on a 2012! I got mine after they stopped...
That was my philosophy - didn't want to compromise if I didn't have to. I got the comfort package primarily for my wife. This way I can keep the car cooler the way I like it and she can just fire up the butt warmer and be happy. I also got the back-up camera (which I originally didn't want). I...
It's gotta be worth it to YOU. Nobody else is going to pay for it for you. Lighting, leather seats, nicer interior accents, 500 watt Shaker audio, Sync...it was worth it for me. It just felt like a much nicer interior to me...and that's where I spend a lot of time. If you like it and if you can...
Honestly I feel the 3.73's are the ideal gear for this power level on a daily, street driven car. That being said, 3.55's would be a very close second. If I were you, I'd keep the 3.55's that you have in there. Don't know how much you'd gain going to 3.73's to justify the expense (if you were...
Unless you want to swap to stickier tires, you can try some LCA relocation brackets. I have heard those do a fantastic job at eliminating wheel hop and getting the rear end to really plant in straight line acceleration. They are typically added to correct the LCA geometry when guys lower their...
The Mustang GT comes from the factory with Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5W-20.
I changed mine at 2000 miles (old school - get the break-in debris out) and put the same factory stuff in. Changed it again at 5000 miles and filled it with Mobil 1 5W-20. Probably keep a 6.5k-7.5k mile interval now...
If you are thinking of buying next year, just order it the way you want it. You don't need the upgraded electronics package. But, to answer your question - I'm sure the dealer can do anything you need, but it may not be cost effective. I do not know if the wiring is already in place.
Check the "Sync-My-Ride" website. If there is an update, it should be available to download there - download it to a USB flash drive and then upload it to your car via the USB port. There should be a procedure outlined somewhere on how to do it. Good luck.
Check the "Sync-My-Ride" website. If there is an update, you should be able to load it onto a USB flash drive and plug it into your car to download it there.
He said it is NOT the rotten egg smell.
I'd check to make sure nothing is resting on the exhaust. Sounds like melting plastic or something to that effect. Make sure nothing is resting on the headers and take a look underneath - maybe you ran over a plastic bag on the highway and it stuck to...
Set of CNC ported heads. Maybe look into some cams as well. That's about it until you go FI or nitrous.
I'm not sure the Boss intake by itself right now is going to help you too much (at least for street driving). Might be able to take advantage of the extra power up top on the strip or road...
