    underbody coating?

Being that my car was being built more as a driver than a show car, I went with coating the entire car with a marine based primer called InterZinc 52. The seams were then sealed and then I pput two kits of truck bed liner on the underside of the body and two kits on the inside. Now it is...

    removing rear quarter trim peice?

I am not totally familiar with the coupe glass. Do you have to remove the glass to get at the screws on the back side of the glass?

    body work

I used paint stripper on painted white aluminum wheels, but I would not recommend it for the body panels. My fear is that it would get into the seams and continue to remove the paint in areas that we cannot get to. There is also the possibility of once you have re-finished the vehicle, that...

    body work

Maybe I was mistaken about the science behind the warpage, however, I have seen what it (sand blasting) can do, and I would certainly not take that chance. Removing the paint by hand adds to the satisfaction of doing work on your own car as well. Regards /paul

    body work

Thanks for the compliment on the II. As far as the time went, it took me approximately 12 hours to do all of the panels. I took it down to the first coat of primer which was the most difficult as it seemed to be etched into the metal. I sanded that final layer off. A buddy of mine was...

    body work

I chose to remove the paint by hand (razor blade) on the exterior as sand blasting builds up too much heat and causes warpage. With respect to the undergear, I did do sandblasting in stages, when I was replacing or repairing an area and then I sand blasted the undergear again after it was all...

    Mustang II Recall Information

The Firestone 721s were 100% better than the Firestone 500s that came on a lot of the 74/75 Model. The radials were in their infancy back then and the Uniroyals and Firestone 500 had cords breaking all of the time. You could be following cars down the road and notice big bulges on the tire...

    Best damn sounding exhaust period

I like the sound. It gave me the same sensation when I first heard the original Bullitt Mustang in 68. (in the movie, not in person). I applaud GT Dave's position on not getting one because it is made in China.

    MY friends 78 Mustang II

Sorry to hear about the job 78Mach1. There is a lot of that going on here in Canada as well. This global economy really sucks. People don't really seem to get it, there is an invasion going on in North America from the Chinese. Also big business has no conscious and they are killing the...

    MY friends 78 Mustang II

I agree with 78Mach1 and suggest that we all try not to get into a bash fest with the fox body guys. IMO it takes the level of the entire Mustang Ownership down a notch. If I guy comes on and makes a comment, I would ask that you try not to respond. It will just show the immaturity of the...

1978 Mustang II on front page!!!!

I do not believe that we are trying to justify the cars at all. Someone made a post with a couple of pics of a beautiful straight Mustang and it gets dumped on. It is dissappointing to see Mustang owners of different eras sh__ting on each others rides. I would suggest that we save it for the...

    Painting my own car questions

Just thought I would add one more thing if you are new to painting. Make sure you learn how to properly clean a gun after you use it. If you don't, it will become useless very quickly, especially if you let the two part primers set up in it. You might want to pick up a less expensive gun with...

    Painting my own car questions

It is very difficult to paint an entire car the first time out. I painted my car in a friend's garage, doing it in pieces over a 7 month period. I thought it would not match and i had full intentions of painting the entire exterior once finished. The rebuild has been chronicled on my cardomain...

    92 tranny options

If I could get your input on this topic, i would appreciate it. I am contemplating a t5 swap for my rad 4 in my 77 Mach 1. I have a guy selling a t-5 that he is not sure what it is out of. The number he gave me 1352-238 translates to a 94-95 out of a 3.8. It has the longer input shaft which i...

Wheels-Tires Wheel/tire Combos Known To Fit

I went with the 2005 Mustang wheel for the 6 Cyl (16 x 7) putting 205/55 x 16s on the front and 225/50 x 16s on the rear, using a 2" spacer/adapter so I could put my lacy spokes back on at any time. Hopefully the pic will turn out. I am not sure how to do it on this site. /paul Cardomain...
