    Check my math

If you want to get more accurate with RPM's at any speed figure up your tire ht. then plug it into the RPM formula here with different rear gear choices. I made a spreadsheet to get an overview of what each rear gear change would do to hwy speeds to pick the best gears for my use...

    1967 Mustang power brake conversion

You need a PB booster AND spacer/mount (esp. on the Bendix booster), PB MC and PB pedal as nonpower is a different ratio and will make the pedal too sensistive. The booster spacer is the hard thing to find on boosters you get from parts stores but you may get lucky. I have heard of people...

Suspension Removing suspension mods - what to look for?

I would think that once the lowering blocks were removed and there were no angled shims used, the pinion angle would return to stock once the leafs are back centered with the rearend tab. An alignment for sure. If you've done the shelby 1" drop be sure to have it aligned to the shelby specs and...

    Wheels-Tires Rim Width(s) For '67 Coupe?

If you're going to be buying newer 5 lug rims anyway you might as well go with 15X7, the tire selection will be better and they will fill out the wheel wells much better and give a better ride. Performance size tire would be 225/60/15 or more conservative 205 or 215 size. Getting the tires to...

The Locking Hood Options For A '67

I've used 2 options, first I started with a gun lock just because it would take a while to cut being a fairly strong linked steel. It could be tucked up where you can't see it and the tumbler painted black over the yellow. I mainly use this as a back up now if I am away from the car for a while...

    Oil Galley Plug Blew Out

I hope you staked or 'peened' the one at the rear gallery crossover - rear center under the intake. A shop rebuilt a sbf for me years ago and didn't dent it hard enough so it would flip up and my oil pressure would drop. Jon

    this gass is CRAP

For those of us that are still allowed to buy real gas if we choose to, here's a listing of real gas stations: http://pure-gas.org/ I plan to only use real gas in my '67 when it's running again this year. Jon

New owner of a 70 vert, advice needed

That'll make a very nice cruiser, especially for parades. I'm with bartl, have the 302 rebuilt, do a the simple mods that will add a little power to the motor for minimal investment - 4 bbl intake/carb, port/polish the stock heads or invest in a minor upgrade like the E-streets by Edelbrock...

    9 inch rear housing

It will be 2" longer than your '69 axle, if your tires fit now they will stick out an inch further: http://www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/FordRearDimensions.html It's also the top FAQ on this forum page - Rearend Swap info - FAQ I suppose you could have it cut down and welded but make sure someone...

    manual proportioning valve??

If you are looking to go aftermarket you can get a combination dist. valve/prop. valve, I'm using one on my '67 to save space, lines and have adjustability. The 2 most common are by SSBC/Summit knockoff and Wilwood: http://www.ssbrakes.com/commerce/detail/index.cfm?nPID=8862...

    Steering box slop

I had the same slop when I bought my '67, had 1" play each direction at the steering wheel. I replaced all the suspension, 1" shelby drop and steering. This took out only 1/4" of play and I was disappointed but then realized that the alignment shop didn't know what they were doing and I didn't...

    Just a thought...3.7 V6 in classic mustang

I had the same thought for a '65-'66 conv. for the wife/daughter. I would swap over as much as I could - seats, dash, etc. for comfort and a long haul cruiser with more than stock power and mpg. I am not a fan of FI but I would need to keep it to get the mileage and comp. to work. There are a...

    Starter Solenoid Interior Mounting

Ok, so you have a hot lead running from trunk to fender now? I'd move the sol. to the trunk and run the extra wire with a relay so the battery wire is only hot on crank. You could also move the solenoid to the wheel well say the backside of the headlight bucket and not have to move as many wires...

    leaf spring ride height questions

Were the 5 leafs standard eye, mideye or reverse eye? You could try breaking the front bolts lose enough to spin them then bounce the car with the wheels on the ground and see if it was in bind when torqued down. After you bounce it and see if it levels out better then retorque the bolts. Jon

    Opentracker LCA

No, the Moog LCA are the same from OTR as anywhere else you get the Moog part, John doesn't buy in as big a bulk or have the same supplier as Amazon, VA Classic Mustang, etc. so he can't give as low a price. When I called and talked to him he advised me to get them where they were cheaper. The...

    front springs

I would contact John at OTR and ask the difference in the two springs, he's a great guy and won't steer you wrong or sell you something you don't need. I put 1" drop 560's and mideye leafs on my '67 and it came out level fr/rear w/in 1/4". I also did the 1" shelby drop at the same time but it...

    69 mustang suspension

I was going to suggest reading the Daze Suspension 101 article that Gene posted and reinforce the vote for John at OTR. I made the mistake of trying to do my suspension on too much of a budget and wasted money on an all in one GAT set. The LCA bushing slid in it's mount and allowed the arm to...

Possibility of a Motor and Trans specific section?

Ok, great so my saved link takes me straight into tech and the talk link is at the top. If I go into talk and read a few, there isn't a link at the top to go back to tech easily or am I missing something? Thanks for the quick reply, Jon

Possibility of a Motor and Trans specific section?

I haven't been here since the software upgrade. What happened to Classic Tech? Lumping everything into only classic talk really muddies up the questions. I read much more on tech at this stage in my build than talk and a tech question can easily get buried by the numerous general talk questions...

    Oh the falling leaves....springs

Agree with 2+2GT, I put air shocks in the back of my '70 20yrs. ago and they ripped the upper sheet metal and I had to have it welded. Shocks are not meant to support the wt. of the car. 2+2GT, your member link is mixed with 2002GT, even if you search for you as a member it leads to...
