    Trans Am Style

I'm going the T/A route with my '67 and painting it much like the red '68 when done. I picked up the TTD's 15" first and they look nice for a street car but kinda wish I would have gone with 4 of these: But I think I'll get them for 1/4mi. rears or track tires if I get into autoX or...

    68 Upper Shoulder Belt Mount?

I think I've seen it done that way, they clamped it or screwed in place temp., drilled through both and then welded the holes, guess you could weld around the hole/nut too? I don't weld so I'll leave that to my welding guy when I get to that stage on my '67. Jon

    68 Upper Shoulder Belt Mount?

I don't know if I'd trust a U-nut or J-nut to mount the seatbelts. I'd trust something more like a heavy (grade 8?) nut welded to a plate first, like this one: It may need to be trimmed down to fit through that larger hole on the rear side and worked into the space where the nut would show...

    68 Upper Shoulder Belt Mount?

I think the hole (opening) was there in '67 but they didn't weld a nut in until late '67/early '68? it varies by plant I'm sure. I can take a better pic tomorrow but here's one of a '68 I can put a ruler next to it so you can guess placement better, I have since removed the belt so you'll...

    Steering and Suspension

Sounds like subframe connectors would benefit you, what HP/TQ are you guesstimating? From what I've read numerous times I'd agree with 2+2GT, genuine traction masters are the ones that work properly, lots of knockoffs but none perform like theirs from all the posts I've seen and racers that...

Here's where the casting number for the block is, under the starter at the rear right side of the engine: Tell us those digits and we can tell you the year and probably type of car it came out of. Jon

    AOD VS TKO-600

I think the choice between auto or manual should be a pretty cut and dry decision for you, do you want to shift the car every time or not? Some cars are really fun with a stick but you have to enjoy it every time. I'm installing an AOD in my '67 Coupe as it was a C4 before, it will see a lot...

    Free Flowing Quiet Mufflers??

Glad to hear this, I think I'm going to give the VT's a try, finally found some flow ratings on their site, they should put them with the product too: DynoMax VT? Muffler | DynoMax Performance Exhaust: Press Releases The new DynoMax muffler’s proven performance advantage can be seen in...

    68 rear suspension problem

First off my opinion is don't even consider the air shocks, the upper mounts aren't designed to carry the wt. of the car which is what will happen, been there done that 20yrs. ago and read plenty of posts about cracked upper mounts, mine cracked and had to be welded, I had the very min. amount...

    289 Engine

Download the CompCams free program CamQuest and plug in all your info. it will suggest cams that match what your looking for with your intended use/driving style. If you want more power while you've got it apart you might consider stroking it to 331, close to stock rod angle and add 40ci. It'll...

    Torque Convertor question....

Sounds like you don't have the torque convertor fully seated, I believe you have to rotate it while pushing it on and should hear 3 distinct clicks I believe it is. I have read that if you can get your hand between the conv. and bellhousing it's not all the way on. I've also read that if you try...

    Valve cover spacers?

I'm going to have the same issue with my CalCustom VC but the baffles attach with 4 screws so I'm going to fab some from thin metal contoured to clear the one rocker that contacts it to avoid raising the covers as I fear 2 gaskets are twice as likely to leak. Jon

    Trans-Am Suspension

Thanks for pointing that out Rusty, that was why I originally postes "I can email you the .pdf of the original suspension book Shogun just PM me." I didn't intend for people to post their email on an open forum. Did you save the link to the original pdf posting? I can't seem to find where I...

    Free Flowing Quiet Mufflers??

Have you seen the new dynomax VT's? They are similar to the Ford perf. ones with a valve to keep them quiet and go to straight through at WOT. I'm really considering these if i can find some feedback/reviews on them. They're SS and have lifetime warranty, plus 90 day perf. guarantee (that they...

    Front speaker options?

Yes, those are the 'deluxe' grilles, my '67 came with the deluxe interior but no speakers in the door. I cut and mounted my own speakers, have to check but if I remember right they were 4"X6" speakers, Polk 461 I think I used. The height was just barely enough at 4" to hide them under the...
