At what gas price will you sell your mustang?

I'll never sell it. If gas hits $9/gallon, I'll twin-turbo it. And bicycle to work.

    Fuel Economy on 2005 Mustang

It sounds like you are running a lot of short trips, where the car has a little time to cool down between, basically. That's gonna kill your mileage, as the engine runs rich at startup. :(

    Fuel Economy on 2005 Mustang

Four miles is roughly how long it can take to fully heat up. The coolant temp might show as up to temp, but the oil temps lags it a bit. Some of your commute is running rich to heat up the cats. Do you mean stop like redlight, or stop to get coffee stop? Without a tune, try to shift under...

High gas prices, thoughts on using Toluene to boost octane

Dang! Your premium is forty cents more expensive? Most autostore octane boosters boost less than 0.5 octane per bottle; making 93 into 93.5 octane. They advertise a '3 point increase!!!' and kinda leave off that that is ~0.3 octane improvement. Torco & some others are significantly...

    Fuel Economy on 2005 Mustang

On my V8 I get ~19-20 mixed driving. I got ~20-22 in my WRX on the same commute, although I have construction to deal with at the moment; I know it's hurting my mileage a bit. Just loaded in the premium flash; it might improve mileage ~1 mpg, offsetting premium gas price.

    Selling the Stang

It might take a *really* long time to sell; there's incentives on new ones, around $2500.

High gas prices, thoughts on using Toluene to boost octane

Toluene is some good high octane booster. Figure out the right amount to get the desired octane and go. However, Premium around here is now usually just under 20 cents less per gallon than regular. For Fifteen gallons, that's three bucks. How much is the toluene, and do you have somewhere...

    omg...It's HIDEOUS!

Because the performance outweights the poor interior. :) There are some things in the interior that I don't like; the center overhead light thing looks like it's out of an '86 taurus, for example. Regardless, I like the car overall. With some suspension mods, the handling is starting to match...

    Panhard Bar Selection

In my opinion rod ends are only needed when competing for a trophy. Even then, the FR500C race cars use poly bushing stuff. Stick with poly bushings. As for the adjustability, you may notice the axle shift to one side when lowering. The adjustable helps keep it in the middle. My axle was...

    Gears

    1. I plan to use my car as a daily driver and I also do a lot of highway driving. I called up a local shop and they told me that 3.73 is the way to go and that 4.10 is to much for the daily driver. Anyone else beg to differ? Besides mileage, they are both good. 2. How much of a difference...

    Watts Link! new update

I got the same email. :) looks like poly bushings & some huge odd attachment method to the axle tube. couldn't tell if those were welded or had bolts.

tighter steering and suspension for 08

the absolute best upgrade is shocks; Tokico D-specs or Koni Yellow. The koni's on soft settings actually ride better *and* handle better than stock. The convertables should come stock with the lower a-arm brace. A strut tower help with the ride quality over bumps, especially on the...

Another reason to love my Stang

I believe he was referring to some newer V6's that make roughly the same power we do. They require premium fuel with only marginally better fuel economy. They also lack ~50 ft-lbs in the midrange. Consider the G35 with it's 306hp V6 engine; only 268 ft-lbs (vs 320), 17/24 fuel economy vs...

Another reason to love my Stang

There is *supposed* to be knock retard with 87 octane; it has knock sensors and adaptive timing to tune right up to the knock threshold of the fuel you're using. If you aren't hearing it, don't worry about knock retard.

    Tuning the 2005+

Yeah, the market is pretty much re-flash. I used to tune my WRX with a UTEC & laptop, and had a forum specificaly for others doing the same thing. Apparently N/A cars on 93 octane can hit MBT (minimum best timing iirc) without problem, so ignition timing isn't quite the variable it was on my...

    GT Brakes

All of the suggestions above are valid, but one point to consider; Was the traction control on? You may not have noticed it coming on but it may have cooked the rears, which then made the fronts overheat. Just a thought. :) Personally I know I want to do lines, fluid & pads. I might do...

CHE K Member Brace w/Torque Limiters installed...

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107197 Someone who had an issue with the CHE limiters. Rather, likely with a weak stock block at that bolt location. Not a common problem apparently, but something to pay attention to. Tom

    GT500 LCA's on a GT

yeah, they call the fr500c steering rack a quick ratio rack at 15.6:1. the stock rack is 15.6:1. Marketing isn't always accurate.

    YeeeeeeeHawwwwww! (Pics)...

On a side note, the Mustang convertable is the only convertable to get 5 stars for its rollover score. I'd still probably add a rollbar, but the windshield frame on the mustang is pretty strong.
