    need help imediately

Honestly, I would suspect the ignition module first. It's connected to your intake manifold and it's rectangular. Replace that first. Crank sensors usually don't go bad as often as the ignition modules do. Plus, an ignition module is much easier to replace!

    I killed it :-(

The capri is out of commission. Did an oil change saturday and after firing it up, it had a nice metallic "clack" to it. Goes away after 1500rpms and gets quieter once its warm, but its coming from the bottom end. After disconnecting one spark plug at a time, I found that the clack goes away...

    Need some tech tips, please.

I did mine in 15 minutes. Just cut the guts out. It's 2 pieces and can be done easily with a knife.

    A4LD tranny question

The A4LD's love to run hot. The cooler built into the radiator is not sufficent for these transmissions, especially if you run them hard. I put a trans cooler on my 88 mustang in maybe an hour. It's real cheap insurance.

    A4LD tranny question

I would say it is probably the rear seal, if it is leaking from the tailshaft (where the driveshaft inserts into). If it is leaking more from underneath, I would say it's the pan gasket. Oh, and as a quick side note on the A4LD, if you don't have a transmission cooler on it already (like a B&M...

    Need some tech tips, please.

Get transmission coolers on both cars. That's first and foremost. After that, tune up. Then K&N filters, gut the air silencer, and remove the airbox restrictor inlet. Did that to my 88 and it seems to run much better. Not like wheel-smokin' better, but it does run a lot better and my fuel...

really need a 2.3 out of something

2 websites to check if you haven't already: turboford.net or car-part.com (junkyard search that can be setup area specific) Or course there's always EBay too, but that's probably a last resort.

    2.3 Ranger roller cam

I've never been able to figure out, is the roller camshaft itself a hotter cam (what are the specs compared to the slider cam?) or are the power gains from lessening the resistance of the valvetrain?

    RPM Help

First thing to check would be the ignition module. That's what sends the signal to your tachometer. 1987-1990 cars, it is the grey rectangle attached to the side of the distributor. 1991-1993 cars, it is a grey rectangle attached to the intake manifold. They are more prone to go bad on the...

    Auto trans question

First thing to check is the fluid if you haven't already. Make sure it's red in color without a burnt odor and at the proper level. On the 90-93 cars, overdrive is solenoid controlled by the computer, as is the converter lockup- each using it's own solenoid. It may be as simple as the solenoid...

    ignition timing...

Good to hear you got that fixed. Mine always ran a lot better on midgrade and premium fuel too.

    fuel problems

Real stretch, but maybe try a different ECU. I can't remember if they take over control of the fuel pump after the engine starts or not.

    fuel problems

Weird. I would say that it's your relay, ut you replaced that. Here's something to try, pop the relay back out and make sure that there is power to the relay from the ignition switch with the ignition on. I have a feeling your ignition switch may be going out. Either that, or ensure that the...

    Check Engine Light

There is an aerosol product that is called Mass Air Sensor Cleaner. I think CRC makes it. I would imagine any parts retailer would have it. Call around. I would imagine instructions are going to be printed on the can.

looking 2 rebuild and freshin up 2.3

As for a camshaft, I would personally suggest a roller cam out of a 91-93 Mustang or 89-97 Ranger. Or, if you can track one down, a Ford Motorsport A237 roller cam. For seals and gaskets, I like the quality of NAPA's products. They seem a lot nicer than anything I have ever bought at Advance...

    ignition timing...

Sounds like you made some improvement. As for the spark knock, be sure your EGR system is actually working. The 84-86 2.3L engines have a very weird and unreliable EGR vacuum control system. It uses a backpressure signal from your exhaust manifold and EGR tube. What happens is the little bellows...

    radiator question

Yea, that's too warm. Definitely time for a new radiator! Especially if you plan on doing mods on the engine.

    radiator question

I checked my a Mitchell collision parts manual and they confirm that the 4 cylinder and v8 radiators are the same. If it is severly corroded, that would be your problem. You'd be much happier with the 3 row radiator. It will allow you to modify your engine and run it harder without the threat of...

    2.3L won't start

Checking timing without the car being able to idle is basically impossible. If you do get it idling ( ~750rpms) in drive (or if it's a 4 speed, in neutral), look down at the distrbutor body. You will see a large metal vacuum diaphragm on the side of it with a vacuum line running to it...

    speedometer

I can't see at all why it wouldn't work. What year car is this? I know Ford Motorsport made the 140mph gauges for the 83-86 cars, I'm not sure about the 87-93 cars though. If you find one, I would certainly imagine it works just fine. The speedometer cable turns at the same rotation at the same...
