    Opinions needed on Paint ideas

What are you planning on using for materials that don't require clear? Those "small holes" are five hours per hole fixes if the guy gets it clean, straight, and doesn't have a gallon of filler per door. My $1800 job was supposed to take a month, but I made the mistake of telling him "take...

Look, 1. I'm in the industry. I see more technicans and more shops in a week than you do in a lifetime. 2. I'm in SoCal. I know what good labor costs. Most of my customers won't do one of these cars because they are so labor intensive they refuse to quote them because the customer...

    Painless 20120 Harness Installation

One wire GM style alternators do a bad job of charging at idle. They're okay for a race car that doesn't spend any time idling, gets charged in between rounds, and has "packaging" issues. Street cars idle a lot. Modern street cars use a bunch of current at idle older ones didn't because of...

    Painless 20120 Harness Installation

One wire alternators are for race cars. Street cars need a real alternator. I like the Ford 3G style alternators.

The materials to paint my car cost $1500 - in a pretty standard non factory color. He's not fixing the rust for $2300. I'm into my car for about $8K so far and I haven't got it any more painted than the jambs. And I got a deal. And mines just a driver, abiet a nice driver.

You must be real short. I have the stock seats and the seats I have out of an '03 are almost 2" higher. It is impossible to cycle the clutch and not have your leg catch the bottom of the steering wheel. I'm taller than 6'2" so I doubt I could drive my car at the track with a helmet anymore...

Steering box is shot, now what?

That guy has a good reputation. I think I'd either use him or ABS in Orange, CA. I would not buy a new box. I hear mixed things about thier quality. You have another option - get a box from a 60-70 Mustang or Cougar and swap the column to a colapseable type. Most of those boxes were...

    66 Engine Compartment Paint???

I sprayed the bottom/engine compartment in Dupont 'stock' black base and Standox satin clear. It has the correct 'eggshell' color, and the advantage of being tough as nails.

Wiped cams are a way of life these days. Blame roller cams and reformulated oils. I have no comment on the headgasket issue.

    Crane's 1968 Mustang Restomod

If you sandblast a rear end, the only way to do it is with the third member installed and the axles installed and the vent tube temporarily replaced with a bolt. Even then............... I'd suggest a wire brush.

steering column option (outside the box thinking)

You could absolutely do that if you got a '68 box. If you find a '68 Cougar or Mustang, if you get one complete, you can just bring all of that over to your car. Real simple. A '68 column in a '65 has not been quite so easy.

I hold it at a '90 or upside down and hold back the vent hose if it's real bad and I don't mind smelling like gas.
