    Post-stripping rust prevention

All of my customers that build street rods out of pieces of sheet metal do so by spraying virgin metal pannels with WD40 so they don't rust in the years it takes to build a car. They are all well aware of it's effects on future paint, and so are the people who paint. That said, if I had a...

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

You could do the rear end and the engine..... Once you get all the costs figured out, the GR system isn't that much more for so much more. If I was going to cut up my car, that's the only one I'd do.

    Post-stripping rust prevention

Just shoot it in etching primer. You can get it out of a rattle can and it bonds only to bare metal. Top coat it with epoxy primer later.

Slow enough you could use one of these to time it.

    cleaning up

Do not start with a 3M clean and strip wheel. Start with a scraper and a wire brush to knock off the big pieces. I just got done with this on a rotissere. This is a dirty and thankless job which is absolutely miserable - and that was with a rotissere. I tried to do it without one and I...

    cleaning up

I suggest a wire brush (w handle), a scraper, a drill with a wire brush, a good hat, saftey glasses, and a dustmask. The last three are the most important. Good luck.

    bad handling, some body rot

Your (front) PMS springs are fine. They are softer than the 620's most folks run. I have them and use them. The front shocks are fine. They are valved a little stiff but they are OK. The rears flat s_ck. They are way too stiff. I like the Bilsten ones from Maier (they seem to be the...

Should I swap my t5 out while the engine's out? Or just see if it lasts?

You won't break it on street tires if you don't bang shifts like an idiot. An aftermarket shifter w/ stops will go a long way from bending the shift forks and hanging it between gears.

    Help: Anyone with Cobra brakes

Go buy the Ford bolts. The Cobra caliper conversion is like Forrest Gump "Life is like a box of chocolates. You don't know what you got till you open it." It seems none of those calipers are the same.

    Oil Pan Clearance :(

No. Call your builder first. You need to figure out what pans they've used in the past that clear before you order a new one. Double sump on a vintage car?

    bad handling, some body rot

Did you buy the wedge kit and the springs from the same guy? You say the car "rides hard". Meaning, if you hit a small bump or hole, the suspension is so stiff it just pounds it getting you sideways or do you mean it's so stiff that hitting expansion joints on the freeway cause you to get...

    Oil Pan Clearance :(

Oh trust me, it's bigger than the pan. The pan doesn't get close enough to anything rotating to come in contact with it. I'd be pulling the pan and taking a peek if it were me. If somebody else built the engine, I'd call them first before I took it apart.

    Oil Pan Clearance :(

If you go out and stomp it and it breaks in a big way, would that be an acceptable outcome? Because short of that, if it were me, I'd be pulling that bad boy down and figure out what you got wrong on your bottom end before you can take the rest of the engine home in a bucket.

    2.3 efi 5 spd into classic 65-69

I would submit that the reason there are thousands of eary cars "rotting away" isn't for lack of powertrain parts. In addition, I don't think you've ever driven a 2.3l NA Ford product. "Grossly nderpowered" and "so slow it's almost unsafe" are words I would use to describe my Ranger and an...
