    we did the old loosen em till they click then tighten 1/2 turn I think. Im really starting to get worried about this cam, I am gonna pull the pan and Look for shavings in the filter :nonono:

    I ran that by my dad and he said that the ring moves up and down so you would be able to pull it out partially even if it was installed incorrectly but not all the way. Im definately thinking its oil pump related. Thanks for all he input. Also how would you break in the cam/lifters. We...

    my dad wanted me to ask, If its possible to take the oil pump shaft out with a magnet from the top of the engine. Hes not sure if he put it in the right way.

    too be honest Im not sure of breaking in the cam and lifters, Im assuming that the shop did this but dont know. Included in the rebuild was new cam, pistons, rings, everything bearings etc. All new components.

    we primed the oil pump, but not sure about the cam and lifters. Oil pressure is good Im going to try the hose thing tonight.

    is it possible to put the oil pump shaft in backwards, If so would this lead to a clicking/ wierd sound in the engine?

    its not really that kind of a sound, its something internal clicking or rubbing on something as it moves around.

    We just tried to fire up our rebuilt 289 today and we have a clicking sound coming from the front of the engine. We removed the fan belt and the sound continued so this rules out the water pump. We adjusted all the valves so its nothing to do with them I dont think. Is it safe to assume...

    Flash Rust

    Flash rust on a few parts of the engine. Went outside and discovered the tarp had been removed that covered my car, with paw prints everywhere. Im eating that cat for dinner tonight :nono:

    another flaming river steering box ???

    i just had my near 40 year old steering box rebuilt :) Feels and turns great, nice and smooth. As far as bieng hard in parking lots you just need to lift more weights :flag: I got a kit that replaced all the front end components shocks, springs, tie rods, etc. I was a little dissapointed...

    Engine is In

    it was frustrating at first to bolt that tranny on, there was a half inch or so that it need to go further, it turned out that theres a shaft in the tranny that moves in and out and somehow it came out after about 15 minutes of sweat and cussing this was discovered :)

    yep, the tranny was on we have that level deal on the chain and you can get it in there pretty easy. Is there some trick to getting the engine in with the headers on, we just put them in the engine bay and dropped the motor in, this proved to be very difficult as they seemed to be in the way at...
