    Excessive sludge found

At this point I would suggest a complete rebuild due to the fact with that much sludge you would not have been getting proper lubrication and likely need main, rod and cam bearings replaced at the least. Possibly need cylinders honed or possibly bored to a larger size cause your pistons were...

'66 Mustang backup light wiring, under dash

Where did the old switch plug into? You should have a connector right behind the engine above the bell housing

    1965 weird alt light problem

Yep. Check your main grounds then your harness ground behind the gauge panel. When you open a door then it triggers a dome light which it then uses that ground. Easiest path of resistance.

    1968 302 / C4 Vibration Issue Mystery

Just a thought but are you sure your drain plug on the converter is lined up with the hole on the flexplate? I made this mistake once and it drove me bats.

1967 I need 289 engine serial number location

They did not have individual/unique serial numbers, only casting numbers and date codes. Those are what you will have to use.

New to forums, new to Mustangs

Could be your alternator is getting weak or you have poor connections or really old battery cables. They deteriorate over time and get corrosion build up which doesnt allow them to carry enough current. Most parts stores will test your alternator for free. Then you should check and clean your...

    VAPORLOCK

Are you positive is vaporlock? Have you checked to make sure near the tank that the exhaust isnt close to the fuel line? Another thing you might check is any filters. Over time junk gets in the tank (or rust) and forms a fine grit that will clog a filter/strainer when stired up.

Changed plug wires now car idles fast

A couple things come to mind One is just as shem said you either knock a vacuum line off or caused one to crack from being old and brittle. The other being that someone made some adjustments to run as best it could not knowing plug wires were bad and know it runs like it should. If its not...

    Question on new heads

Although you would benefit from a set of aluminum heads because they will flow better cause they will have bigger ports and valves but With a mild cam you will be fine with your heads. Maybe have them ported and maybe a little bigger valves but as is you will be ok.

    1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible

being that the 64 1/2 is the first of the mustangs then the wiring might be slightly different than later years but it should be connected to the larger harness that comes thru the firewall. It is basically wired into the wiring that goes to your starting circuit. Should be a two wire plug or a...

    1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible

Which tranny do you have? I'm assumiong you are talking about a c-4 automatic? The plug should be located right behind the intake near the throttle linkage.

Squeak in front end of '66 289 coupe at speed

If its disc brakes in the front then that's what I would suspect first . Does it disappear if you maintain that speed and push on the brakes? get worse? better? no change? Second I would suspect maybe a wheel bearing out of grease (Front end lube job does not include greasing wheel bearings)...

    Surface rust on cylinder walls

At this point those are just stains. If you cant feel em with your finger then youre fine. They will eventually rub off as the engine breaks in. Just protect them the best you can.

Swapping flexplates on 302 with C4

As an example, If it is a factory balanced flexplate of say 28 oz imbalance then you could use any other 28 oz imbalance. BUT if a machine shop balanced that whole rotating assembly together including the flex plate then he is right to a point. If they did balance the whole assembly then it...

    Surface rust on cylinder walls

Get the rectangular ones (3 x 5 inch? maybe 4 x 6) brown. Any of them will do cause you should be able to just take about ten or so swipes with light or medium pressure by hand. They wont remove any material that way and if that doesn't take it all out then leave it and saturate the cylinders...

    Surface rust on cylinder walls

Whipe off what you can with a fine scotch brite pad and then saturate it with WD40 and it'll be fine. It you don't put it together soon then I would resaturate every few weeks. Assembly lube or thick oil for long term.
