    Electrical 1973 Neutral Safety Switch

It depends on the year of the switch and the year of the harness. Early c4 and c6 use the same one then the c6 wiring changed after 69 I think? I'm assuming you already have a switch that you want to make work? these also operate the backup lights. If you're good with a multimeter then you can...

Rebuilt the 5.0 but it's got an oil leak

Yes after a rebuild you do need to retorque due to heating up and expanding then cooling down things move and stretch and become loose. Make sure you do the other head too.

    New to forum, needing advise

That engine on its own is not going to bring him a ton of money. With more and more people switching out for crate motors and late model motors then they are easier to find. But with that being said it is not that easy to find one that is close to the build date of the car so that makes it more...

Weird wiring problem with turn signal indicators (dashboard)

That is weird. I had 3 issues with my painless kit where they miswired a few plugs and one of them was the turn signal plug. I also was giving the wrong booklet for my car which had a my wiper switch terminals with two wires connecting on the wrong position. Almost caused me to buy a new wiper...

Rebuilt the 5.0 but it's got an oil leak

I would rule out the high crankcase pressure. Usually that high of a pressure will push oil out of the dipstick tube or valve cover vent before a rear main. I would first make sure your pan gasket is not the problem or even the intake or a valve cover leaking in the back and running down. If...

1967 Mustang won't start and buzzing noise

Its possible that your battery has a dead cell which unloaded it could still give you a high voltage reading but as soon as you apply load it drops drastically. Put your voltmeter on your battery and watch it when your try to start it. If it drops way off say down to 9 or 10 volts or less then...

    Loose oil presure

Yeah, I don't know who told you your pump was bad but if its 45 at idle that's right on the money. If your issue is still there and your new filter didn't fix it then I'm going back to a drain back issue. Sound like there is no gunk in your engine so I'm going to suggest when you take you VC off...

    Mustang Market Value....

I'm no expert but I would say that the more valuable car would be as it came from the factory and the more factory installed options the better. Unrestored but in excellent shape would be more valuable than restored to factory condition. I think you could take a low optioned car however and make...

    Loose oil presure

What does your pressure run at idle? so far your pressures look ok to me especially on an older engine. if your pan was clean then I doubt you have a gunked up engine unless someone cleaned the pan prior to you owning it? Did you rebuild it or someone else? Maybe you just had a bad filter?

    Loose oil presure

Yes engine flush is what I meant (bad choice of wording) and they are safe to use. They are meant to run in your engine for a short period (say 30 minutes or so according to direction). then you drain the gunk out and change oil and filter. Marvel mystery oil is good for say stuck lifters or...

    Loose oil presure

Horse and rbohm are both onto something here. I also think you are starving for oil and something is not able to keep up with that higher rpm. I would pull a valve cover and see what kind of drainage issues you may have. Check the drain ports in the head to see if they are all gunked up maybe...

    Distributor help

look on the base of your distributor and see if you can see where the clamp marks are. If so then position it back to that point and you should be good. Otherwise see above.

    Distributor help

If you haven't rotated the engine any since you pulled the distributor then you wont need to find tdc. Like rbohm said you can put it back in and as long as your cap position is close you should be able to start it. If it doesn't start then rotate it a little in either direction while cranking...

    Distributor help

You are only using your finger to feel when you are on the compression stroke. Then you can take your finger off and rotate to line up tdc. Yes highest point (true tdc) would be when your marks line up to the tdc hashmark (or zero mark) on your balancer.

    Distributor help

Because of the pressure difference. Put your finger tight against the spark plug hole (#1) and as you rotate and the engine comes up on tdc of the compression stroke is when you will feel that pressure. It will blow air out no matter how tight you hold. You wont feel that pressure on the exhaust...

    Distributor help

Yes, provided you know how to find tdc. Just rotating the engine to line up the marks on the balancer isnt good enough. Your crankshaft makes 2 revolutions to one revolution of the cam so its easy to be 180 degrees off. Pull the number 1 spark plug and feel for pressure as you slowly rotate the...

    1968 Mustang Convertible, WIW

This is just a ballpark assuming that whoever did the restauration proprerely took care of any rust issues and used very little filler (to fill small imperfections not rust holes or big dents) then I would say 25k to 35k. But that could vary greatly again depending on the restauration. For that...

    Distributor help

No it does not have to necessarily point at one or the other as long as you can adjust your timing properely. When re-installing the distributor, you can be off a tooth clockwise or counter clockwise which is no problem if you can rotate the distributor enough to adjust the timing. So if you put...

Build Thread Another 68 coupe to fast back conversion

Yeah if he doesn't want to pay up front then he likely will drag his feet paying up when your done with it. Then you'll be stuck with a car that you can't sell and will have to store until he pays.

Engine Timing Issue has me pulling my hair

I'm going to add to Worths comments - After you get that pressure from the number one spark plug hole and rotate your engine to line up your timing marks then check to see if your rotor is lining up to number 1 position. If its way off then its likely someone had the distributor out at one time...
