    66 flywhel

Hello everyone. I have a 66 convertible with a 1983 5.0 and a 5 speed T5 (Asked about that in a previous thread and decided to keep the tranny I have for now.) The original problem was that it didn't have the right engine plate between the engine and bellhousing (it had an automatic...

    t-5 transmission concern

Looking up the transmission number (1352-238), the charts I've seen state that this is a WC transmission. I did find a gear set with a .68 or a .52 (buyer chooses) OD ratio (according to the charts, the one I have is a .73 ratio) for about 400 bucks. Waiting on a response from the seller on...

    t-5 transmission concern

I'm having so much fun with the work I have been doing on my 66 mustang convertible: After I had bought the car I realized that there were plenty of things that the guy before me had half-assed and it seems like every job I've done with it so far has cost me twice as much as I planned on...

    Painless wiring

I rewired my 66 convertible with the 64-66 mustang kit from American Autowire. It's an 18 circuit kit with the blade fuses and included a new ignition and headlight switch. The bulk of the work took a weekend and spend the next few days (around work and family stuff) finishing up. It was a lot...

    Suspension Rebuild on a Budget

I've seen some suspension kits on ebay that didn't seem too unreasonable to me. These kits include shocks, springs, coils, steering linkage, etc..might be something to look into if you haven't already.

    axel and wheel bearing question

I remember seeing a car going down the freeway one time and watching the real axle sliding out. Luckily that driver got his car off the road and stopped before it came out completely. I have heard stories of accidents caused by the loss of a real axle. Everything I've looked at on the subject...

    66 convertible pillar trim question

Along the same lines as the original question: For my 66 convertible, I'm missing the driver's side Pillar trim. I havent been able to find any place that has this part. Anyone have any ideas or steer me in the right direction?

    carburetor help!

Unless you need to drive the car over there, do what I did. Take the carb off the car and take it with you. Hopefully, your parts guy is savvy enough to be able to identify it for you in order to get the right kit.

66 instument cluster rewired ammeter prob

I have the latest NPD catalog (been using it for buying other stuff). The ammeter listed in there doesn't have any description beyond "ammeter". If you dont have their catalog, they have it online. Very easy to use. NPDLink | National Parts Depot

66 instument cluster rewired ammeter prob

now that it looks like my ammeter is fried (I'm keeping it completely disconnected now, so it doesn't interfere with the operation of the other gauges), I'd like to get a voltmeter to replace it. Can you give me any idea of a good place to go to get it?

66 instument cluster rewired ammeter prob

Thanks for responding. The gauges all work fine with the ammeter unplugged. (I'm wondering if, due to the full charge of the alternnator running through it, interfered with them when the ammeter was hooked up). At any rate, I went from an instrument cluster problem to an ammeter problem. I went...

Anyone have an electronic ship manual or wiring diagrams for a 66?

This link will give you downloadable pdf files for the wiring diagrams. The 66 is on 2 pages and once you print them you can put them together for the complete wiring diagram for the car, headlights to taillights and everything in between. It even shows what color the wires are supposed to be...

66 instument cluster rewired ammeter prob

My instrument gages (fuel, oil, water) were not working when the car is running( they had worked with the key on and the engine not started). I just installed a wiring harness from american autowire and a one-wire alternator. After scratching my head for a litte bit, I unplugged the ammeter...
