    The oem one runs on a vacuum. And it's a return style fuel system meaning what isn't used goes back to tank.

    Do you have access to a infrared thermometer gun? Harbor frieght sells them pretty cheap. Another thought to check your factory coolant guage is to get a 10 ohm resistor from radio shack. Pull your coolant gauge sending wire. Put one end on connector and other to engine ground. Guage...

    The old starter was shorted to ground causing your solenoid contacts to weld themselves. That's a lot of full load amps across the solenoid. One reason ford went to mini starter in 92.

    It may or may not be. Disconnect the connector going to fuel pump and fuel sending unit. It's under the the tank near the rear bumper. If it goes to full than your sending unit is good and its something in the cluster. You can jumper the slosh module out to prove its ok see jrichker post...

    Electrical swapped clusters, fuel gauge sporadic.

    There are two ground wires going to the cluster. One on each terminal block. From the sounds of your issue. I'm guessing bad gauge itself.

    Anybody replace these with a convertible or T-Top car? Any issues with window rolling up after install? Reason I ask is those cars came with the hi tourqe window motors. Edit: DUH convertible and t-top cars do not have window frames. Lol nevermind :)

    Thanks guys I can live with that classic plate looks good. Would be kinda cool if they let us those old " you've got a friend in PA" plates. For the younger kids that's never seen them. But only pre 74 plates are allowed on antique vehicles. I'll be going with the classic route.
